
The Constitutional Court (AYM) unanimously rejected the request for the cancellation of the legal regulation that provides for the collection of additional Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) due to the earthquakes that occurred on February 6.
The General Assembly of the Constitutional Court has approved some of the provisions of Article 6 of the Law on the Creation of an Additional Motor Vehicle Tax to Compensate for the Economic Losses Caused by the Earthquakes that Occurred on February 2023, 375, and the Amendments to Certain Laws and the Decree Law No. 1, which provides for the collection of "additional motor vehicles tax". He discussed the application made by the CHP on the merits, requesting that the provisions be annulled and their validity suspended.
The Supreme Court decided that the relevant provisions of Article 2023 of the Law, which regulates the payment of an additional motor vehicle tax equal to the amount of motor vehicle tax accrued for the year 1, for a one-time period, are in compliance with the Constitution and that the request for annulment is rejected.

On the other hand, 13,2 percent of the targeted collection of approximately 87 billion lira in the first installment period of the additional MTV has been realized so far.
If the Constitutional Court does not decide to cancel, it is aimed to obtain a total income of 2 billion lira in 30 installments from the additional MTV, the second installment of which will be paid in November.
