The Balkans Folk Dances and Culture Festival, organized for the 17th time this year, hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, has ended. Speaking at the closing of the four-day festival with the participation of 10 countries, the President Tunç Soyer, “We will defend peace until the end. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which revived the "Balkans Folk Dances and Culture Festival" organized in 1935 and 1936 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, hosted the same enthusiasm for the 17th time this year. The four-day festival, attended by 10 countries, ended with a ceremony held at the Historical Gas Factory.

Speaking at the ceremony, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç SoyerStating that they experience a different excitement every year to develop this festival inherited from our Atatürk and to do more, he said, “The reason why our Atatürk started this festival is to make peace permanent in these lands. To strengthen peace through the communication bridges and bonds of brotherhood that our youth and people will build, and to do more for peace. We will continue with this philosophy, we will continue to fight for peace. We will defend peace until the end. "As our Ata said, we will never give up for 'peace at home, peace in the world'," he said.
Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Mustafa Özuslu, said, “There is only one cure for resisting disasters, solidarity. It's time for all of us to unite. "We may have problems, but none of us should lose the joy and sense of solidarity of the people," he said.
Özuslu; He presented a plaque of appreciation to the teams from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Turkey that participated in the festival. Young people had fun with Balkan music at the night.
