In the operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce at the Habur Customs Gate, 2 illegal mobile phones of various brands worth 177 million 131 thousand liras were seized.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, within the scope of the activities carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce within the scope of combating smuggling, a truck arriving at the Habur Customs Gate to enter Turkey from Iraq was deemed suspicious and was monitored.

Suspicious concentrations were detected in some parts of the truck where X-ray scanning was performed. The vehicle was taken to the search hangar and a detailed physical search was carried out. During the inspections, many new and various branded mobile phones were detected hidden in the pillar spaces of the truck's trailer, in the bottom space of the food cabinet and in the picnic tube. It was observed that in order to prevent the smuggled mobile phones from being damaged due to shaking, buffers were created with full cigarette packs in the hidden places.

A total of 2 illegal mobile phones worth 177 million 131 thousand liras were seized during the operation. The investigation into the incident continues before the Silopi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
