The City Library project, which is under construction in the Atakum district of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, received the 'Europe's best public building architecture' award at the 2023 International Property Awards (European Property Awards) Competition held in London, the capital of England. The City Library project will be included in the 'European public buildings' category in the grand final to be held on a global scale. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “We are also proud that the City Library project won the 'Europe's best public building architecture' award in the European Property Awards Competition and made it to the finals.”
Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which brings important works to the city, is building one of Turkey's largest libraries in Atakum district. The City Library, which is under construction on an area of 27 thousand 570 square meters, where the former Türk-İş Training Center is located, will become a vital place serving people from all age groups with its concept and rich content with a capacity of 525 thousand books. The City Library project, the project of which was prepared by Ven Architecture firm, was presented to the European Property Awards Competition, which has been going on for 30 years, in which architecture and construction projects from many different countries in Europe are awarded in the fields of architecture, interior design and real estate. A gala night was held in London for the projects evaluated by the international jury based on the design quality, functionality, sustainability and innovation criteria. The projects that were deemed worthy of an award at the night found their owners.
In the 'Public Buildings' category, the City Library project was awarded the best public building architecture award in Europe. The project, which is the only project entitled to represent Europe, will also compete for the best public building architecture award on a global scale at the 2023 International Property Awards Final, where many projects from Asia, America and Africa will be evaluated this year.
