Konya Metropolitan Municipality organizes a photography contest themed "Sustainable Transportation in Konya" in order to encourage the use of sustainable transportation modes. Applications for the competition will continue until August 25. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said, “We want to encourage the use of sustainable transportation vehicles that are economical, environmentally friendly, healthy and do not cause traffic congestion through the art of photography.”
Konya Metropolitan Municipality brings together sustainable transportation types and the art of photography with the photography contest themed “Sustainable Transportation in Konya”.
Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay said that they carried out exemplary works in every field with the understanding of Konya Model Municipality. Emphasizing that they have opened a separate window to the studies on the environment and climate change and that the projects prepared within this scope are carried out meticulously, President Altay said, “Environmentally sensitive tram vehicles, new buses, bicycle trams, 604 kilometers of bicycle paths, applications on bicycles, pedestrian transportation opportunities and pedestrianization zones are sustainable. We continue to work on awareness for the development of all modes of transportation.”
President Altay drew attention to the fact that sustainability is one of the concepts whose importance is increasing both in the world and in Turkey, and made the following assessment:
“Under this concept, which is also expressed as transferring the resources we have to future generations without consuming them, transportation has a very important position. The increase in the use of sustainable transportation modes contributes to both the present and the future of cities. We want to promote the use of sustainable means of transport through the art of photography. We aim to raise awareness on this issue, to increase the rate of sustainable transportation use in urban transportation and to carry the current sustainable transportation usage culture in Konya to a higher level. I invite all our amateur or professional photographers to participate in the 'Sustainable Transportation in Konya' photography contest.”
Scope of the competition Public transportation buses serving the city center of the Metropolitan Municipality and other districts outside the center, tram vehicles, bicycle tram, bicycle transportation, bicycle parks, other bicycle-related issues and applications, electric scooter transportation, pedestrian transportation and pedestrianization closed to vehicle traffic. areas (such as Bedesten, Kazım Karabekir Street), bus and tram passengers in public transportation, and public transportation stops.
