
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality increased the green area per capita to approximately 13 square meters with afforestation works.
Participating in the 'Green Cities', the flagship urban sustainability program of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), environmental and nature-friendly projects carried out in Gaziantep are increasing the rate of green space in the city with each passing day.
In this context, 2014 thousand square meters of area has been afforested since 250 in the activities organized in cooperation with philanthropists and NGOs within the scope of the "Green Antep Project", which brings many benefits such as protecting the air, increasing oxygen production, saving energy and meeting the need for shelter and home for animals. The green area per capita was increased to 12,65 square meters.
The metropolitan city, which does not neglect the maintenance, repair and renewal of the existing parks within the scope of the works, planted 108 thousand saplings, 662 thousand shrub plants and 3 million seasonal flowers in various parts of the city.
In order to ensure that trees touch human life in a healthy and lively way, while the green areas in the city are protected by using methods such as spraying, the landscaping works carried out at points such as parks, medians and intersections are carried out uninterruptedly by the metropolitan teams.
