Republic of Turkey Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure State Airports Authority (DHMI) General Directorate announced the airline aircraft, passenger and cargo statistics for May 2023.

Accordingly, in May, when the number of aircraft landing and taking off at our passenger and environmentally friendly airports reached 76.003 in domestic flights and 69.654 in international flights, a total of 185.689 aircraft traffic was reached with the overpasses. Compared to the same month of 2023, the aircraft traffic served in May 2022 increased by 3,8% in domestic flight traffic, by 16,4% in international aircraft traffic and by 12,3% in total aircraft traffic including overpasses.

During the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, the passenger traffic, which decreased to a large extent throughout the world and in our country, exceeded its level in May 2023 in May 2019. In the total passenger traffic, including direct transit, at our airports, 2023% of the passenger traffic in May 2019 was realized in May 110. In addition, 106% of the total air traffic, including overpasses, was exceeded in the same month.

In this month, domestic passenger traffic was 8.208.449 and international passenger traffic was 10.562.533 at the airports serving throughout Turkey. Thus, a total of 18.787.471 passenger traffic was served in the month in question, including direct transit passengers. Compared to the same month of 2023, the passenger traffic served in May 2022 increased by 14,3% in domestic passenger traffic, 22,6% in international passenger traffic, and total passenger traffic including direct transit increased by 18,7%.

Airport freight (cargo, mail and baggage) traffic; In May, it reached 67.713 tons in domestic flights, 272.643 tons in international lines, totaling 340.356 tons.

6.559.203 PASSENGERS SERVED AT ISTANBUL AIRPORT IN MAY

The number of aircraft that landed and took off from Istanbul Airport in May reached 12.502 in total, with 31.578 on domestic lines and 44.080 on international lines. A total of 1.739.670 passengers were served at this airport in May, of which 4.819.533 on domestic flights and 6.559.203 on international flights.

At Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport; In May, the aircraft traffic that landed and took off was 9.093, with 9.641 on domestic lines and 18.734 on international lines, passenger traffic was 1.483.893, with 1.564.810 on domestic lines, and 3.048.703 on international lines.

At Istanbul Atatürk Airport, where general aviation activities continue, 2.183 aircraft traffic took place in May.

THE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS TRAVELING BY AIR IN FIVE MONTHS EXCEEDED 73 MILLION

In the five-month (January-May) period; Air traffic landing and taking off at airports was 335.728 in domestic flights and 269.798 in international lines. Thus, a total of 786.043 aircraft traffic was reached with the overpasses.

Air traffic served at the end of May 2023, when compared to the same period of 2022, increased by 16,3%, international aircraft traffic by 26,2%, and total aircraft traffic including overpasses increased by 22,3%.

Domestic passenger traffic in airports across Turkey of 34.024.650 of the 39.350.694 international passengers traffic in this period were given a total of 73.466.360 passengers with direct transit passengers.

The passenger traffic served at the end of May 2023, when compared to the same period of 2022, increased by 19,6% in domestic passenger traffic, by 38% in international passenger traffic and by 28,6% in total passenger traffic including direct transit.

During the period in question, the freight (cargo, post and baggage) traffic of the airports; 309.341 tons in domestic lines and 1.153.281 tons in international lines.

At Istanbul Airport in five months; 51.142 aircraft in total, 147.517 on domestic flights and 198.659 on international flights; A total of 6.852.150 passenger traffic was realized, with 22.222.150 on domestic lines and 29.074.300 on international lines.

At Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, within five months; 41.250 aircraft traffic in total, 45.950 on domestic lines and 87.200 on international lines; A total of 6.462.278 passenger traffic was served, including 7.271.290 on domestic lines and 13.733.568 on international lines.

There was 10.115 aircraft traffic at Istanbul Atatürk Airport in this period.
