Turkish exporters have a major problem in visa applications to the European Union countries, where more than half of their exports are made, and to the United States.

Aegean Exporters' Unions Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi stated that exporters have been calling him with the complaint that they have not been able to get credit for the last 1 year and they demanded a solution.

"Recently, the complaint of not being able to get credit in our exporters has lagged behind the visa problem," said Eskinazi.

Eskinazi continued his words as follows:

“Exporters need to be able to obtain visas very quickly. Schengen region countries are given an appointment months later in this process. Consuls in Izmir help us in fair participation. We would like to thank our consuls who helped our exporters. One of the formulas that can solve the visa problem is the green passport. While green passports are given to the spouses of the beneficiaries in some occupational groups, green passports are given to a very limited extent in the export world, which needs the green passport the most. Legal regulations are needed to increase the number of green passports issued to exporters.”

Emphasizing that Turkish passports have been given to foreigners who have bought houses for 400 thousand dollars in recent years from Turkey, EIB Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi said, “While calculations are made to earn foreign currency by selling housing to foreigners, there should not be a situation that will impede the export that brings 254 billion dollars of foreign currency to Turkey annually. It is stated that these types of passports are the most rejected Turkish passports in Schengen,” he concluded.
