Making statements within the scope of June 5 World Environment Day, Üçay Group Energy Director Interestn Eray drew attention to the importance of green energy use in electric vehicles.

Cuts carbon emissions by two-thirds

Transportation is among the issues that need to be addressed as a priority within the scope of combating the climate crisis. Research shows that transportation is the biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions. However, it is possible to reduce the negative effects of transportation on the climate crisis with electric vehicles, which are becoming increasingly widespread around the world. Because an electric car reduces carbon emissions by two-thirds over its lifetime.

Related to the subject, Üçay Group Energy Director Interestn Eray said, “While it was 0,2 percent ten years ago, electric vehicles worldwide account for 13 percent of automobile sales today. Electric cars without exhaust pipes do not produce exhaust gas while driving. Contrary to traditional vehicles, this is the air we breathe; means they are not pumping carbon dioxide, ozone and particulate pollution. Thus, it significantly reduces air pollution.” said.

Pay attention to the source of the electricity supplied to reduce environmental impacts.

Eray stated that an electric vehicle that has been on the road for more than a year saves 1,5 million grams of CO2 on average, adding, “However, within the scope of the EU's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, the measures to be taken on the transportation side should not be limited to encouraging the use of electric vehicles. . Because the carbon footprint of an electric car is not only related to the phase of use, but also to the source of the electricity supplied, namely how green the electricity is. The use of green energy is very important in reducing the carbon impact of electric cars. But unfortunately, very few electric vehicles today run on renewable energy. In order for electric vehicles to be a truly green option, the use of renewable energy needs to be widespread.

Green energy increases the contribution of e-mobility to the environment

Üçay Group Energy Director Interestn Eray said, “As Üçay Group, we took our place among the few charging network operators by obtaining a license from EMRA in 2022 with our Elaris brand. While aiming to be one of Turkey's leading players in this field and to equip Turkey with charging stations with the operator services we will offer; We planned to support our initiative for a carbon neutral future with the services we offer in the field of renewable energy. In other words, our aim was to deal with and finalize e-mobility with our 360 degree engineering understanding and all its aspects. We want to show our difference in this field by meeting the electricity needs of the charging stations that we install with our solar energy solutions. Because using electricity by producing it from renewable energy sources maximizes the contribution of e-mobility to the environment and the economy.”
