After the earthquake that occurred in Izmir in 2020, it has been announced that there is no question of victimization of earthquake survivors who have been residing for 1 years in the social housing of the municipality, which was temporarily allocated for 3 year by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. In the statement made by the Metropolitan Municipality, the following returns were included:

“To our citizens whose houses were destroyed or severely damaged due to the earthquake that occurred in our city on October 30, 2020, 224 independent sections from Uzundere Mass Housing, owned by our municipality, will be allocated free of charge for 1 year, and electricity and water expenses will be paid in the houses to be allocated. It has been approved with the decision of our Municipality Council dated 13.11.2020 and numbered 05.1012 that the invoice costs, fuel and common expenses will be paid by our Municipality.

With the end of the allocation period, in the decision dated 17.11.2021 and numbered 05.1319, it was decided to extend the allocation periods for 6 months until 20.07.2022, free of charge and with the same condition.

However, due to the inability to complete the residences of earthquake victims, it was decided by the Assembly Decision dated 31.12.2022 and numbered 6 to extend the allocation periods for 14.04.2022 months under the same conditions until 05.458, and with the Assembly Decision dated 13.01.2023 and numbered 0580, the residences were not evacuated yet. It has been decided to extend the allocation period until 31.05.2023 for the earthquake victims who could not.

As of today, 224 of the 95 houses allocated have been evacuated by the earthquake victims' own wishes, and 129 are occupied. In the examination, 63 people are the owners of the houses that lost their house in the earthquake, and the rest are tenants.

As a result, the residences of our municipality, which were allocated to the earthquake victims, were allocated for a period of one year, but due to the prolongation of the construction period of the earthquake residences and the economic conditions, the allocation period was extended 3 times by 6 months, and they were allocated free of charge for a total of 2,5 years (30 months).

During this period, electricity, water, heating, internet expenses and dues of the houses were paid by the municipality.
