There are two passenger ferries operating in the Gulf of Izmit within the scope of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department Maritime Transportation Branch Directorate. In order for these ferries to make the Big Island and Moonlight tours more comfortable in the summer months, renovations and maintenance repairs are carried out periodically within the means of the Metropolitan. In this context; machine maintenance, wood changes, ship sheet metal maintenance repairs and sheet metal paint renewals take place. Detailed renovations, machine maintenance, wood changes, ship sheet metal maintenance repairs, which started a while ago on the Atatürk passenger ferry of the Metropolitan, continue.

CORROSED SECTIONS ARE RENEWED

Within the scope of the study, the steel nameplates with Atatürk inscription on the 'forward port and starboard' sections of the passenger ferry, which rusted due to weather and sea conditions, were also sanded with wire sandpaper, and a primer was applied underneath. After the primer paint was dried for one day, the name Atatürk was repainted with the last coat of paint and the renovation was completed. Other renovation works of the Atatürk passenger ferry continue. After the completion of the works, the Atatürk passenger ferry will continue to serve the people of Kocaeli.
