TECHNOLOGY IS IMPORTANT IN THE EXISTENCE OF STATES AND NATIONS

Keçiören Mayor Turgut Altınok, in his speech addressing both the contestants and the students and families participating as spectators, said, “We love our children and young people, our dear future and future. We have come to the final of our robot competition, which started months ago. I would like to thank all our schools, students and teachers who participated in the competition. Dear young people! The future of nations and states is their children and youth. The reason for this competition is the rapidly changing world. It is unfortunately not possible for societies that do not have science and technology to develop and become a large and powerful state. When we look at the world of 8 billion, we see science and technology in all areas of changing and developing life. At the same time, it is obvious that technology is of great importance in the existence and continuity of states and nations.” said.

“Türkiye BROKEN ITS SHELL IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY”

Stating that Turkey's foreign dependency has decreased with the technology moves it has made in recent years, Altınok continued his speech as follows:

“When we say powerful states today, we are counting countries that we see as economically strong. The most important features of these states are that they have science and technology. We are in a market position at some points, but Turkey is among the countries that break its shell fast in this sense. Until yesterday, there was a Turkey that was a customer, dependent and in need of foreigners. For example, they did not give us the herons we bought from Israel. When we wanted to have it repaired to Israel, they did not fix it. We were taking our tanks to Israel. Our tanks are gone, they remain in Israel. They did not give us our tanks for which we paid for the repair. Even though we paid for our F35 fighter jet in advance, they made various impositions on us and they did not give us this. They did this by saying 'don't defend your national interests, don't protect your values' in order to weaken the Republic of Turkey in the future. But what happened now? We have now produced the first unmanned warplane in the world. I would like to thank the Bayraktar Family from here. Baykar is an important achievement for Türkiye. It is a gain that will add strength to Turkey`s power and it makes a production that will give fear to others. Our Kaan warplanes, UAVs and SİHAs, and our Red Apples have taken a significant technological leap forward.”

FULL SUPPORT

Reminding that as Keçiören Municipality, they fully support the education of young people in the field of science and technology, Altınok said, “Our aim is to train new scientists. By supporting our youth, we should raise them in every field. Keçiören Municipality Technology Center is Ankara's first and Turkey's few centers. We need to increase the number of our Technology Centers and give our children and youth the opportunities they want. On the other hand, we fill the laboratories of all schools in Keçiören with equipment. Whatever is asked of us, we get more and better quality. We say to our schools, 'Whatever you want for the library and laboratory, let's get better, more quality'. We want to train the future Avicennas, Ulugh Beys and Ali Kuşçu. We are the sons of a great nation that brought civilization to the world. Now there is a strong growing Türkiye. Hopefully, our young people will continue to contribute to 'Strong Turkey' with the opportunities they have. Youth! You will make the 21st century the century of civilization of the Turks. We believe in you, we trust you. We would like to thank all the teachers who contributed to our robot competition. We love you, you are our everything, you are our future.” used the phrases.

After his speech, Altınok followed the races on the track and wished the students success.

WHAT WAS DONE IN THE PROCESS LEADING TO THE COMPETITION?

Keçiören Municipality TEKNOMER organized the “Line Follower Robot Competition” not only as a competition but also to raise awareness and education in the field of science and technology. In the process leading up to this competition, online robotic coding lessons, question-answer zoom meetings, face-to-face and online meetings were held on weekends for students who applied. At the end of the training, 50 robot kits were given to the successful schools. The track was prepared for the schools that participated in the competition but did not have a trial track. On the other hand, the event “Robotic Coding Meets with Families” was held to attract the attention of families. In the last corner, students' interest in robotic coding was increased with basic and advanced long-term robotic coding courses. All these studies were carried out in cooperation with Kanuni Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and its teachers. Along with the educational process of the organization, all technical and technological infrastructure was implemented by Kanuni Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School.
