Opel Astra Wins 2023 Red Dot Award

Opel Astra was awarded another award in the "Product Design" category of the 2023 Red Dot Awards. Adding a new one to its successes every day, Opel Astra was deemed worthy of another award in the "Product Design" category of the 2023 Red Dot Awards. The new Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer with station wagon bodywork won the appreciation of the 43-member international jury of the Red Dot Awards with its impressive modern German design. Prior to this success added to the award series, the Opel Astra was selected as the German Compact Car of the Year 2022 by the independent juries of the 2022 Golden Steering Wheel Award, the Family Car of the Year 2023 and the German Car Awards (GCOTY).

Mark Adams, Opel's Vice President of Design, said: “Our new generation Opel Astra truly shines with our bold and simple design philosophy. Like every new Opel model, the Astra hits the road with the impressive Opel Vizör brand face and combines innovative technology with emotional design. We have developed the Pure Panel cockpit according to this principle. The all-digital Pure Panel can be used intuitively and allows for the necessary attention to detail.”

Bold, simple and expressive: Astra design stands out in the compact class

In addition to its efficient engine options, the new Astra focuses on green driving with the all-electric Astra Electric coming soon; At the same time, it dazzles with its simple and exciting lines. The new brand face Opel Visor, first used by the brand in Mokka, follows the Opel Compass design philosophy with the intersection of the vertical and horizontal axes in the Opel Şimşek logo. The visor completely covers the front. This makes the new Astra look even wider. At the same time, technologies such as the optional ultra-thin Intelli-Lux LED® headlights and the Intelli-Vision system's front camera are seamlessly integrated into the design integrity. When viewed from the side of the new generation Opel Astra, the prominent forward inclination of the C-pillar enhances the impression of dynamism.

All-digital and all-glass: Pure Panel Cockpit with a focus on intuitive operation

The German precision and balance in the overall design is also valid in the interior where the time jump takes place. The new generation Pure Panel draws attention in every aspect. This large, digital cockpit features two horizontally integrated 10-inch displays with driver-side ventilation. While analog instruments become a thing of the past with the new Opel Astra, thanks to a shutter-like layer that prevents reflections on the windshield, there is no need for a visor over the screens. This further enhances the high-tech functionality and ambiance.

Red Dot Award: Evaluating designs for 60 years

The current Opel Astra generation adds one more addition to Opel's long list of awards with the Red Dot Award. Many Opel models and communication tools have been crowned with this special award before. The Red Dot Award, one of the world's largest design awards, has been awarding innovative designs in the categories of "Product Design", "Brand and Communication Design" and "Design Concept" for more than 60 years. The jury evaluated the products of 2023 countries in 60. This award is considered as an individual product test, not as a competition.
