In his speech at the opening, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Özgül Özkan Yavuz said, “Although Aşık Veysel led a difficult life and lost his sight at a young age, he was able to see with the eyes of the heart and succeeded to become one of the important representatives of our minstrel tradition with his unique melodies and singing. Our esteemed poet has always called us to unity, friendship and brotherhood with his saz and words, and has treated the love of people and nature in the most beautiful and plain form of our Turkish language in his works. One of the primary duties of our Ministry is to tell our people, especially our youth, about the personalities who have left their mark on our society, and to remember these precious bearers of our cultural heritage with goodness. The exhibition, which opened at AKM Gallery on April 7, presents many firsts about Aşık Veysel to the attention of art lovers. Curated by Erkan Doğanay, the exhibition features both the Braille version of the book "Aşık Veysel in the Press and Through the Lens of the Masters", prepared for publication by photographer and Aşık Veysel's granddaughter Nazender Süzer Gökçe and journalist Gürsel Gökçe, as well as the audio version performed by theater artists. book version is introduced.

“Aşık Veysel through the eyes of masters”

As part of the exhibition, lesser-known photo frames of Aşık Veysel will also meet with art lovers. These frames, which are also included in the book “Aşık Veysel in the Press and Through the Lens of the Masters”, consist of photographs of Aşık Veysel, reflected in the lens of the masters of the period Ara Güler, Fikret Otyam, İsa Çelik, Ergun Çağatay and Mustafa Türkyılmaz. In addition to the photographs, paintings by the couple Eren and Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu and Orhan Peker, and the Aşık Veysel sculpture by Alper Çınar are also included in the exhibition.

“The 'Dark World' is also screened”

Master director Metin Erksan's film 'Dark World', which tells the life of Aşık Veysel, will also be screened within the scope of the exhibition. Aşık Veysel also played a role in the movie whose script was written by Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu. The exhibition, which will also include original copies of books, magazines and newspapers published about Aşık Veysel, can be visited until April 23.
