Türkiye Design Vision 2030 Workshop Started

Turkey Design Vision Workshop, organized with the cooperation of Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), Informatics Valley and World Design Organization (WDO), started in Informatics Valley. Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, TÜRKPATENT President Cemil Başpınar, WDO President David Kusuma attended the opening ceremony hosted by Bilişim Vadisi General Manager İbrahimcioğlu.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır said that as of today, more than 319 design personnel are employed in 7 design centers and nearly 700 thousand projects have been completed in these design centers. Kacır, who stated that more than 10 design projects are continuing at the design centers, said, “We see that if we take one step, our private sector responds by taking 2 steps.”

Noting that they will rapidly transform the innovative perspective that will be put forward at the workshop into public policies, Kacır said, "We will continue to pave the way for our private sector, entrepreneurs and all individuals working in the creative industries."

It will facilitate integration

WDO President David Kusuma stated that the capacity of the Turkish design ecosystem is very high and said, “They can produce very qualified products. So they are very open,” he said. Emphasizing that very competent experts from all over the world participated in the workshop, Kusuma said, "Their participation will facilitate the integration between Turkey and WDO."

We will talk about global trends

Informatics Valley General Manager A. Serdar İbrahimcioğlu explained that they put design at an important point in the first strategic plan of Informatics Valley, and stated that they took steps to determine the vision for 2030 in design at the workshop. Reminding that the WDO President also attended the workshop, İbrahimcioğlu said, “While talking about Turkish design in our workshop, we will talk about the impact of global trends on Turkish design vision and the opening of Turkish design to the whole world. WDO, one of the most important stakeholders for internationalization, will also share their ideas with us at this workshop.”

Reminding that they invited students from the design departments of universities, which will be the designers of the future, as well as professionals, to the workshop, İbrahimcioğlu said, “The designers of the future will also have explained here what they expect from the design of the future and what they will do.”

TÜRKPATENT President Başpınar stated that they held an important workshop to prepare Turkey's 100 Design Vision Document in the 2030th year of the Republic of Turkey and said, “Today, professional organizations related to design, design academicians, individual designers, design offices, representatives came together and said: We will work for two days to prepare the strategy document, which will cover 7 years.”

After the opening speeches, the new member of WDO, Bilişim Vadisi, was awarded a certificate. Informatics Valley General Manager A. Serdar İbrahimcioğlu received his certificate from WDO President David Kusuma. WDO President Kusuma wore badges on behalf of 12 institutions accepted to WDO membership.

Award goes to Sadık Karamustafa

The winner of the Turkish Design Advisory Council 2023 award was also announced at the ceremony. As a result of the evaluation made by the selection committee, criteria such as the originality of his works, innovation and the values ​​he added to the design discipline were taken into consideration and it was decided to give the award to Sadık Karamustafa. Karamustafa, who could not attend the ceremony due to her illness, received her award from Ayşe Karamustafa Türksoy, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır.

After the group family photo, the two-day workshop started. All opinions and suggestions regarding the design strategy will be comprehensively evaluated at the workshop, which aims to develop the Turkish design identity and promote it in the international arena. WDO Executive and Management Board members and stakeholders, leading industry representatives from around the world and Turkey, academics and designers will attend the workshop. Sessions will be held under the titles of "Turkey Design Strategy in the Framework of Global Design Trends" and "Design for Unpredictable Conditions".

Following the completion of the workshop, the WDO Board of Directors Meeting, which takes place every year in 4 different regions of the world, will also be held in Turkey. Headquartered in Montreal, with nearly 200 members and representatives in more than 80 countries, WDO, the world's largest and top design organization, determines its new strategies in the field of design at these meetings.
