The second part of the containers was sent off for the 'Sakarya Brotherhood City' to be established by the Metropolitan Municipality in Hatay Iskenderun. Sakarya is increasing the 'fraternity train' it sends to sister cities day by day. President Yüce said, “Last week, we sent 40 containers to the region. Today we are saying goodbye to 40 more containers. I hope we will not leave anyone out in our brotherhood cities," he said.
After the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, which were described as the disaster of the century by the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality, the new containers prepared for the container city to be established in Hatay Iskenderun are on their way. 250 containers, the first part of the containers where earthquake victims will be accommodated in the 'Sakarya Brotherhood City', which will consist of 40 containers, set off last week. Today, 40 more containers were sent off from Arifiye Train Station.

In the program hosted by Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Yüce, AK Party Women's Branch President Yasemin Turan, district mayors, provincial directors, heads of chambers and NGOs, district heads, business people, headmen, Arifiye Station Manager Ömer Faruk Korkmaz, TCDD officials, Metropolitan Municipality bureaucrats and citizens. Yüce examined the containers one by one and wished them good luck.

40 more containers set out for the Iskenderun container city

Expressing that they have sent 40 more containers from Sakarya to Iskenderun, President Yüce said, “We continue our work for the city of brotherhood with 250 containers. We are rapidly completing our container city, which includes a children's playground, prayer room, classroom, library, health facility, coffee shop, laundry, basketball court and rehabilitation center. Our business people and NGOs also support our Iskenderun container city, where we continue to work with our own means.

Last week, we said goodbye to our first 250 containers for our 40-container brotherhood city that we will establish in İskenderun. Today, we are gathered here to send our 40 containers. In addition to these 40 containers, we send 150 stoves and 1 truck (wood-coal-water). I hope we will not leave anyone out with the aid we send, the containers and the cities of brotherhood.”

300 vehicles 600 personnel

Referring to the works carried out since February 6, when the earthquake occurred, Mayor Yüce said, “As the Metropolitan Municipality; With the support of our citizens and business people, we sent more than 200 support trucks to the disaster area. Moreover; More than 4 vehicles, including fire trucks, construction equipment, mobile service vehicles, passenger vehicles, funeral transport vehicles, mobile funeral washing vehicles, aid vehicles, 4×300 vehicles, water tankers, and nearly 600 personnel immediately after the earthquake. He set out to go to the region and gradually reached the areas affected by the earthquake.”

50 container business center in Maraş

Chairman Yüce continued his speech as follows: “We have repaired 120 mains line-subscriber lines, blanking the debris subscriber line and 20 container drinking water connections in the center of Kahramanmaraş. In addition, we are establishing a business center consisting of 50 containers for our earthquake-affected tradesmen in Kahramanmaraş. Again, our laundry service, which serves 5000 people, has stepped in.”

A city of 400 containers in Adıyaman Altınşehir

“We continue to work on damage assessments carried out in the disaster area, under the coordination of AFAD, with our expert team of 10 people consisting of civil engineers and technicians. With the studies carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, we carried out damage assessment of 500 buildings. First of all, in our 400-container fraternity city in Adıyaman, by saying “We Understand You Best”; We have successfully completed the infrastructure, drinking water and waste water works of the region with the help of SASKİ. We started to work on our container city with the support of our business people and NGOs. We quickly completed our container city, which includes a children's playground, prayer room, classroom, library, health facility, coffee shop, laundry, basketball court and rehabilitation center.”

Hot meals for 5 earthquake victims daily with a soup kitchen

“We sent our veterinary teams to Hatay Antakya. Our professional team, which we send with equipment such as food, medicine, cage, medical equipment; It meets the needs of animals rescued from the rubble by performing surgical intervention and care. While examining an average of 300 animals a day, it provides 20 domestic cats to their owners through the chip animal system. Thanks to the Soup Kitchen and Mobile Service Vehicle we established in Sakarya Neighborhood, we serve thousands of earthquake victims around the clock. We deliver hot meals to nearly 3 thousand earthquake victims in 5 meals. As we continue our work to erase the traces of the earthquake, we do not forget our children and we set up playgrounds for them.”
