Dr. Eray Çalışkan drew attention to the most common diseases in women and their solutions.
Women often encounter gynecological diseases throughout their lives. Early diagnosis and routine controls in diseases seen in women are of great importance as they increase the quality and duration of life. Emphasizing the importance of preventing major diseases that may occur in women, Çalışkan said, “Daily problems that women always experience can be a harbinger of serious gynecological diseases. For this reason, we recommend regular gynecological examinations to women.” said.
Experts give advice to minimize gynecological diseases that women will encounter frequently throughout their lives and to improve their quality of life. Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Prof. Dr. Eray Çalışkan gave information about the most common diseases in women and to make women's lives easier.
Vaginal discharge
“Vaginal discharge is the discharge seen in every woman, which is quite natural. These discharges are transparent and odorless. One of the most common gynecological problems in women is abnormal vaginal discharge. The change in the normal bacterial balance of the vagina can change the smell, color or consistency of the vaginal discharge," said Caliskan, and made recommendations to prevent these problems:
- Fragrant products should not be used for the vagina,
- Cotton underwear should be preferred and excessively tight clothes should not be preferred,
- The number of sexual partners should be reduced,
- Toilet cleaning should be done from front to back,
- Unnecessary antibiotics should not be used.
Irregular period
prof. Dr. Regarding the diligent menstrual irregularity, “Disruptions in the normal menstrual cycle are called menstrual irregularity. It is not considered normal if the menstrual cycle is shorter than 21 days or longer than 35 days, and the bleeding lasts longer than 6 days. This condition is called menstrual irregularity. Although most of the menstrual irregularities are hormonal, they may occur due to factors such as cysts and fibroids. Factors such as depression, stress, seasonal and environmental changes, excessive weight gain, and sudden weight loss can cause menstrual irregularity. “Sports and exercise, being at the appropriate body weight, getting enough sunlight and taking Mg and vitamin D, which can be good for menstrual irregularity, may come,” he said.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Pointing out that Polycystic Ovary Syndrome has a genetic origin, Prof. Dr. Çalışkan said, “It is one of the hormonal disorders that is frequently seen in women of reproductive age, which negatively affects fertility and prepares a place for the formation of diseases. In women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, the hormone necessary for the maturation of the egg is not produced and ovulation cannot occur because none of the eggs can mature and crack. In this case, it causes menstrual irregularity or no menstruation at all. Çalışkan, who makes recommendations as a treatment, said, “One should maintain an ideal weight with a healthy diet and exercise. Myoinositol, vitamin D supplements can be taken. Avoid sugary and processed foods. Grain products, fruits, vegetables, lean meat should be consumed and necessary support should be taken to keep blood sugar at low levels.
urinary incontinence
Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Prof. Dr. Eray Çalışkan “Urinary incontinence that starts to appear after the age of 30 and increases; It is an important problem that causes women to restrict themselves from social life due to reasons such as odor and hygiene. Urinary incontinence can be experienced due to hereditary collagen tissue disorder. There are risk factors such as multiple births, smoking, obesity, giving birth to a large baby, difficult birth history, not developing the hip muscles with exercise, and in the presence of these risk factors, it is seen at earlier ages. In addition, Caliskan stated that the profile of the patient should be examined as a treatment for urinary incontinence and the treatment method would be determined according to the situation.
Groin and spine pains
Emphasizing that inguinal and low back pain is one of the most important complaints in women, Prof. Dr. “Sometimes, groin pain can be so severe that it affects women's daily lives. Inguinal and low back pain can originate from the reproductive organs, urinary tract, digestive or skeletal system. Treatment may vary according to the pain. The cause of the pain is tried to be diagnosed with ultrasound and laparoscopy method. Painkillers can be used for unexplained pain. Psychological support is also beneficial for patients," he said.
