New Logistics Centers to be Established in Gaziantep and Kocaeli

At the 1st Logistics Coordination Board meeting held in Ankara, it was decided to establish new logistics centers in Gaziantep and Kocaeli. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “The logistics centers to be established in Gaziantep and Kocaeli will make significant contributions to our country's exports and imports. With this step, Gaziantep and Kocaeli economy will be stronger.”

In the statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was reminded that the "Decision on the Establishment, Duties, Authorities and Responsibilities of the Logistics Coordination Board and Logistics Coordination Executive Board" numbered 29 was published in the Official Gazette on October 2021, 4714. In line with this decision, in the statement that the Logistics Coordination Board held its first meeting in Ankara yesterday, the main purpose of the Board is to implement the Logistics Master Plan (U2053), to prioritize the projects for strengthening the logistics infrastructure within the plan and to follow up the construction processes. The main objective of the Transport and Logistics Master Plan is; to establish and strengthen an integrated transportation infrastructure within a planned investment plan in every region of Turkey by using our geographical strategic advantages to the fullest. Ensuring that human, cargo and data transportation is carried out at the highest standards, with the implementation of plans on the axes of digitalization, mobility and logistics, is the most basic goal in this context.

DISASTER LOGISTICS WAS HELD AT THE MEETING

Emphasizing the importance of an integrated transportation system that has the ability to evaluate national and international economic opportunities in the most efficient way and competitive advantage, the Logistics Coordination Board, at its first meeting, stated that "Disaster Logistics" and "Disaster Logistics", the importance of which was revealed once again with the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes on February 6, 2023. “Logistics centers to be established in Kocaeli and Gaziantep will make significant contributions to our country's exports and imports. It is seen that value-added groups such as petroleum-mining, food-beverage and automotive industry products are the cargo groups that have the largest share in Kocaeli's freight mobility. It is predicted that the total daily production amount in Kocaeli, which was 74 thousand tons this year, will increase by 2023 percent to 90 thousand tons in 141, and the total daily draft amount, which was 130 thousand tons, will increase by 2053 percent to 85 thousand tons in 240. In the modeling made in the light of U2053; It is planned to establish the center on 800 hectares, which will make significant contributions to Istanbul, especially the Kocaeli Bay.”
