Bridgerton season

We have some big updates to share about Bridgerton season 3. Finally, there was an update regarding the shooting in March 2023.

Bridgerton season 3 is officially happening. Netflix then renewed the series before a second season, even getting a premiere date in March 2022, which was an incredible success.

Netflix has definitely surprised Bridgerton fans with its season 3 renewal. In fact, it also came as a double renewal with season 4 confirmed. Double renewals are not usually normal, but it's okay for us to continue the trend.

We shared everything we know about Bridgerton season 3. We updated this story on: Friday, March 23, 2023. Reed Gaudens, Natalie Zamora, and Bryce Olin of FanSided Entertainment contributed to this report.

Filming for the Bridgerton season reportedly wraps up in March 2023

The cast and crew began filming Bridgerton season 2022 in July 3. Netflix shared an announcement video featuring the cast.

We originally thought that filming for Bridgerton season 2 would wrap up in December 2022, but that didn't happen. Rumors circulated that producer Shonda Rhimes was taking a break from production because he wasn't happy with some of the stories, but Netflix denied the rumors. UK site Metro has released photos of the cast, which were shot in Bath, England, on January 17, 2023, meaning the show is still in production at the start of the year.

While Netflix did not announce that the filming of Bridgerton season 3 has ended, there have been some news that the shooting of season 3 has ended. What's on Netflix shared an image of a sign from Netflix congratulating the cast and crew for finishing filming. Many fans believe this season's star, Nicola Coughlan, has also finished the season.

We hope the rumors and reports about Bridgerton season 3 packaging production are true. Production seems to be over for the season.

Has Netflix announced the Bridgerton season 3 release date yet?

No, Netflix hasn't announced the Bridgerton season 3 release date yet. We know fans can expect to see the new season as early as this spring or summer, but that's out of the question right now for a number of reasons.

First of all, the season has just finished production. On a big show like this, we can wait at least six months after filming ends for all the post-production and promotion of the new season. Bridgerton is one of the 10 greatest Netflix shows of all time, and they're not just going to air it without a big premiere, fan events, and all of the biggest talk shows.

Plus, Netflix has more Bridgertons coming out with Queen Charlotte in May 2023. Netflix would never release two seasons this close together. From a business standpoint there is no reason to do this.

It will be a while before we see Bridgerton season 3 on Netflix. Still, there's no reason to think that Bridgerton season 3 will be delayed to 2024.

For now, September or October will be the earliest we'll see Bridgerton season 3. But it will be later. I think we will wait for November or December to watch this series.

The first season of Bridgerton premiered on Christmas Day 2020. Looking at the rest of the year Netflix has planned, it's wise to assume that Bridgerton season 3 will air on Christmas Day. That's just our current guess, but we do know that Netflix releases big shows during the holidays, and no bigger show is coming to Netflix this year than Bridgerton season 3.

Bridgerton season 3 cast

Ahead of filming for Bridgerton season 3, Netflix has announced a host of new cast members. Hannah Dodd will take on the role of Francesca Bridgerton, and three new cast members have been added to season 3: Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips, and James Phoon.

Despite taking on a new role in a Showtime limited series, Jonathan Bailey will once again return as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton in a regular capacity. (His new show won't interfere in any way with his role as Bridgerton!)

We may also see a number of new cast members introduced in season 2 returning for small roles in season 3, such as Charithra Chandran as Kate's sister Edwina and Calam Lynch as Eloise's forbidden love interest Theo Sharpe.

Here are the names we will see in the next third season:

  • Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury
  • Lorraine Ashbourne as Miss Varley
  • Simone Ashley as Kate, Viscountess Bridgerton
  • Jonathan Bailey as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton
  • Harriet Cains as Philippa Finch
  • Bessie Carter as Prudence Featherington
  • Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington
  • Hannah Dodd as Francesca Bridgerton
  • Ruth Gemmell as Violet, Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton
  • Florence Hunt as Hyacinth Bridgerton
  • Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
  • Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton
  • Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte
  • Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
  • Polly Walker as Portia, Dowager Baroness Featherington
  • Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown

Here's who the new cast will portray:

  • Daniel Francis as Marcus Anderson
  • Sam Phillips as Lord Debling
  • James Phoon as Harry Dankworth

Unfortunately, there are a number of characters that won't be in season 3.

Simon, will Bridgerton be in season 3?

We won't be seeing Regé-Jean Page returning to the series again, and rumors of Duke's reprise don't seem to have much truth. Page didn't reprise her roles in the second season because her character doesn't appear in the books much.

Daphne, will Bridgerton be in season 3?

Unfortunately, the talented actress Phoebe Dynevor, who played Daphne Bridgerton in the first two seasons, has confirmed that she will be sitting in season 3. It's unclear if he will reprise the role in a future season, but don't expect him to be in the new season.

What book will Bridgerton season 3 be based on?

As previously announced by Shonda Rhimes, Bridgerton will deviate from the book layout and skip the third book in Julia Quinn's series. Instead of diving into Benedict's story in An Offer from a Gentleman, the series will jump to Penelope and Colin's story in Romancing Mister Bridgerton.

While some fans of the book series might not prefer the series to skip the book sequence, it may be best for storytelling. And considering there are plans to adapt each of the eight books, we don't have to worry about missing anyone's story just yet.

Bridgerton season 3 synopsis

Alongside announcing that the new season will begin filming and the arrival of three new cast members, Netflix has also released an official synopsis for season 3:

Bridgerton from Shondaland and new showrunner Jess Brownell returns for its third season, seeing Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) finally give up on her long-time crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing derogatory remarks about last season. . However, she decided it was time to find a husband, a husband who would give her enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, preferably away from her mother and sisters. But the insecure Penelope's marriage market attempts fail spectacularly.

Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a fresh look and a serious sense of cool. But he is discouraged when he realizes that Penelope, the only one who appreciates him as he always has, is acting cold towards him. Eager to reclaim his friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope on her self-confidence paths this season to help her find a husband. But when her classes start to go a little too well, Colin has to grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly friendly.

Complicating things for Penelope is her conflict with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who finds a new friend in an unexpected place.

Bridgerton spin-off Queen Charlotte will be released in May 2023

While some fans are hoping to watch Bridgerton season 3 this spring, it looks like it won't be. However, we have some good news to share! Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story officially has a release date on Netflix. Fans will watch the first Bridgerton spinoff on May 4, 2023.

Unfortunately, that means Bridgerton season 3 is still pretty far away.

Will Bridgerton have season 4?

We know it's hard to be patient, but it's essential if you're a Bridgerton fan. As mentioned Bridgerton is one of Netflix's biggest shows and there's a lot of franchise potential here. Shonda Rhimes is also involved and doesn't flop.

Bridgerton season 4 has already started, but as far as we know, filming hasn't started! Netflix confirmed both seasons before season 2 was released.

We'll probably learn a lot more about Bridgerton season 3 as we get closer to the release of season 4. With its approval, players will be able to talk more openly about what the future holds than if it wasn't.

Is Netflix adapting all 8 of Bridgerton's books?

There are eight Bridgerton books written by Julia Quinn, and Rhimes has stated in the past that they plan to turn all eight books into seasons of the Netflix series. Whether that plan actually materializes is up to Netflix.

So far, there are no public plans for Bridgerton after season 4. Netflix has confirmed that the series has four seasons, and it's been a long time since we've heard anything beyond that.

Depending on how things are going in season 3 and season 4, Netflix will decide whether all these seasons will take place. Overall, it looks really good for more Bridgerton seasons soon. Bridgerton season 1 and season 2 rank 5th and 4th respectively on the list of the greatest Netflix shows of all time. Netflix will not cancel this show unless something bad happens.
