It's a few months into 2023 and it's been a while since we've heard big updates about Avatar: The Last Airbender. That was the case until Daniel Dae Kim shared an important update with his fans.
Overall, it's been a tough start for Netflix's new Avatar: The Last Airbender series. Unfortunately, as development continues, the two co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are no longer involved in the project. Albert Kim is the new showrunner.

Does Avatar: The Last Airbender have a release date?
Unfortunately, Netflix has not yet announced the release date of Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's unclear whether Netflix has announced that the series will arrive in 2023, or whether it is only expected to arrive when production begins. Many outlets have reported that the series will arrive in 2023.
There are many rumors that Avatar: The Last Airbender is coming to Netflix. It's hard to tell who's who on social media, but some hackers, including MyTimeToShineHello, believe Avatar: The Last Airbender will hit Netflix in 2019. summer 2023.
This is one of the first release windows that really makes sense for this series, but it's a little worrying that we haven't seen anything about the series lately. Production of the first season was completed in the summer of 2022. We thought we had a chance to see the series late last year or even early 2023, but it makes sense why we haven't seen it yet.
On the Tigerbelly Podcast, Daniel Dae Kim shared and updated why we haven't seen much about the series until now. When asked when it will be released, he said, "We don't know yet, but they are currently working on visual effects."
So this is not good. If the series were actually coming this summer, we think the cast and crew would have stepped in and the VFX work would have been done by now. We've seen Netflix push the boundaries in VFX in the past and make changes until the last minute. That's what happened in Stranger Things season 4, volume 2, and that's why the last two episodes were kept until summer 2023, when the first seven episodes aired in the spring of 2022.
The team uses a lot of new techniques and revolutionary technologies to shoot the series, and with rumors about production costs and budget, we have to imagine that this series needs a lot of work in post production to make it look right. This takes a lot of time and that's probably why we haven't seen a trailer or an update on the series yet.
For now, summer 2023 seems to be the earliest we'll see Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix.
We also know that Netflix's One Piece series will arrive in 2023. Many believe it will arrive in 2023, so we may see Avatar before One Piece. There's also a chance we'll see One Piece before Avatar, but I think it's clear that Netflix won't be releasing these series in the same quarter. Netflix will want these shows to shine on their own, especially given how hard they've worked to bring these worlds to life.
Since we haven't seen anything about Avatar on Netflix yet, and we've seen something about One Piece, I think there's a good chance we'll see One Piece this summer, and we'll see Avatar much later in the year, possibly around Thanksgiving. or Christmas. Netflix might want this holiday boost for Avatar.

Michael Goi, Roseanne Liang and Jabbar Raisani will direct new episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix. Albert Kim is the showrunner and executive producer. Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore and Michael Goi are also executive producers, according to Netflix.
