Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the Başakşehir-Kayaşehir metro line, which was taken over from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, was completed in a short time and announced that there are few days left for the line to be opened to the service of the citizens.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the construction of a total of 13 kilometers of rail system line continues in 177,3 projects under construction by the Ministry. Underlining that the length of the metro line, which was completed and put into service in Istanbul, reached 87,4 kilometers together with the “Pendik-Tavşantepe-Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro line”, Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

“We are working for Istanbul on 95,9 lines with a total length of 6 kilometers. Bakırköy (IDO)-Bahçelievler-Kirazlı Metro line, Gayrettepe-Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport Metro line,

Halkalı- Başakşehir-Istanbul Airport Metro line, Altunizade - Çamlıca Mosque - Bosnia Boulevard Metro Line, Kazlıçeşme - Sirkeci Rail System and Pedestrian Oriented New Generation Transportation Project

and Başakşehir-Çam and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro lines, we continue our work without interruption to put them into service. Currently, Istanbul's rail system network is 259,5 kilometers. When our ongoing projects are completed, this figure will increase to 362,8 kilometers. In other words, 50 percent of the rail system network will be brought to Istanbul by our ministry.”

WE HAVE READY FOR TEST DRIVES IN 2 YEARS

Reminding that the Başakşehir- Kayaşehir metro line was taken over from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Karaismailoğlu noted that the physical progress of this line was at the level of 5 percent when it was taken over. Pointing out that the line was ready for test drives in a short time after the transfer, Karaismailoğlu noted that there are only a few days left for the opening of the 6.2-long line.

Karaismailoğlu said, “There are 4 stations on our line, namely Onurkent, Çam and Sakura City Hospital, Kayaşehir and Başakşehir Metrokent stations. It has the capacity to serve 80 thousand passengers in one direction with vehicles with a design speed of 70 kilometers per hour. By completing our Başakşehir-Kayaşehir metro line, we will bring it together with Çam and Sakura City Hospital, which is one of the most developed and most modern hospitals in the world.”

TRANSPORTATION TO PINE AND SAKURA CITY HOSPITAL WILL BE FAST

Stating that the line is being built with an average speed of 25 meters per day, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu gave the following information:

“With the commissioning of the line, there will be a fast, economical and safe transportation opportunity between the city center and Çam and Sakura City Hospital. In addition, the integration of the hospital with other public transport modes will be ensured. With the project, at Metrokent Station to Bağcılar-Kirazlı-Başakşehir-Olimpiyatköy line, at Kayaşehir Station HalkalıIt will be integrated into the Istanbul Airport Metro line. With this integration, the region will also be able to reach the airport by metro. With the commissioning of the line; Travel time between Kayaşehir and Mahmutbey will be 20 minutes, between Metrokent and Freedom Square (Bakırköy) 29 minutes, between Metrokent and Istanbul Airport 24 minutes, between Çam and Sakura City Hospital - Bakırköy (Kirazlı) 23 minutes.
