The 16th grade students of 6 schools determined by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality are included in an excursion every weekday within the scope of the 'Minibus Project'. With the project carried out by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Social Services Department and Agricultural Services Department, students spend an unforgettable day.

The students, who are taken to the cinema in the center of Mersin by the teams of the Social Services Department, and have fun to their heart's content, also receive training at the Fire Brigade Group Supervisors. The students, who are taken to Tarsus Nature Park by the Department of Agricultural Services, have the opportunity to see and get to know dozens of animals up close.

While Mersin Metropolitan Municipality plans to involve students in different activities throughout the term with the 'Minibus Project', students will participate in all programs. This project will continue throughout April and May. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality aims to reach a total of 2 students with the Minikbus Project. In this way, it is aimed to contribute to the socio-cultural development of the students.

Dinçer: “We aim to complete the second phase of our Minibus Project with a total of 16 thousand 2 students in 830 schools”

Social Service Specialist Ceyda Dinçer, who works at Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Social Services Department, talked about the second phase of the Minikbus Project and said, “We started our project on the planned date to support our students and increase their motivation during the difficult process experienced due to the earthquake. We include our 2th grade students, who are studying in 16 schools that we have determined to participate in our project, into our program every weekday. While we bring a group of our students to the cinema and train at the fire department, we take a group of our students to Tarsus Nature Park simultaneously. We aim to complete the second phase of our Minibus Project with a total of 6 students in 16 schools that we have chosen to participate in the project, which we started in March and will continue throughout April and May. In this project, we originally aimed to give children in disadvantaged areas an opportunity to both get education, travel and get to know the services they could not access and stay away from. In the next process, we wanted all our students, who are studying both in our center and in our districts, to benefit from equal opportunities by including them in the program, regardless of the region.

Students are satisfied with the 'Minibus'

Kübra Nur, one of the students who participated in the events, said, “We were very upset because of the earthquake. We would like to thank our Mayor for organizing such an event. First we took the bus from the Library. Then our teacher collected us and we went to the cinema. After the cinema, we had dinner and went to the Fire Department,” she said. Kübra Nur, who stated that such activities contributed to their success in their classes, said, “I loved the movie, it was a very good movie. I went to the cinema a few times, but this place was more fun,” he said.

“It was a good morale for us”

Rümeysa Sıbar, one of the students, stated that they had a lot of fun and said, “We liked the cinema very much, the movie was suitable for our age. Then we went to eat. Meals were also good. Thank you to our mayor. It was a good morale booster for us. Since we were depressed due to the earthquake, our minds were usually on the earthquake, not on the lessons. That's why the trip put our minds at ease and made us more focused on the lessons this time.”
