Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank announced the damage report on industrial facilities in the regions damaged by the earthquake. Stating that there are partial infrastructure damages in 34 of the 7 Organized Industrial Zones (OIZ) in the earthquake zone, Minister Varank noted that there are 5 thousand 600 facilities with heavy and medium damage. Emphasizing that production has started in 33 thousand facilities in the context of the entire region, Varank said that the cost of the earthquake on the industry was approximately 170 billion liras.

Minister Varank continued his investigations on the industrial facilities damaged in the earthquake region in Adıyaman. Varank, who moved to the city center after Gölbaşı and Besni districts, chaired the consultation meeting with the industrialists held in Adıyaman OIZ. At the meeting, where the Regional Development Oriented Urgent Action Plan was also discussed, Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, who served as the coordinating governor in Adıyaman, Adıyaman Deputy Governor Muhammed Tugay, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Hasan Suver, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Hasan Büyükdede and Adıyaman Municipality President Süleyman Kılınç attended.

EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN

Listening to the problems of industrialists at the meeting in Adıyaman, Varank explained what was done at the solution point and the planned arrangements as follows:

THE DEBT OF OUR NECK

Of course, it is not possible for us to bring back the lives we have lost, but rest assured that we will do our best to relieve the pain and heal the wounds of those left behind. For this, we are always in the region with all our friends. We will never leave you alone. It is our duty to re-establish new, safe settlements with their buildings, workplaces, infrastructure and superstructure, just as we did in the previous disasters we experienced in our country.

APPROXIMATELY 170 BILLION LIRA

In order to reveal the current situation and needs of the industry in the earthquake zone, our teams completed the damage screening in OIZs, Industrial Estates or factories that make individual production. There are partial damages in the infrastructure of 34 out of 7 OIZs in the region. We immediately started repairs and renovations here. There are nearly 5 facilities in OIZs and Industrial Sites with heavy and medium damage, which were destroyed. In our remaining 600 thousand facilities, production has started and continues, mostly with low capacity and partial production. We estimate that the cost for infrastructure, building damage, machinery damage and stock damage will be approximately TL 33 billion.

7 BILLION DAMAGES IN ADIYAMAN

Unfortunately, there are also facilities in Adıyaman that were destroyed and heavily or moderately damaged. There are 4 destroyed, moderately or partially damaged buildings and 54 slightly damaged facilities in 98 active OIZs. 171 factories survived this disaster undamaged. In addition, there are destroyed and damaged buildings in 6 active industrial sites. We estimate that the industrial damage in Adıyaman, together with the production facilities outside the OIZ and the Industrial Site, is over 7 billion liras.

WE WILL RISE AGAIN

We will also make up for our deficiencies in industry and production for Adıyaman. We will restore every damaged factory, every business, every shop. First of all, we postponed the loan debts of the OIZ and Industrial Estates to our ministry for one year. We will declare the suitable areas in the disaster area as 'industrial areas', taking into account the earthquake criteria. We will immediately build new industrial workplaces in these areas. We will also provide support for the reconstruction of industrial workplaces that have been destroyed or damaged so much that they cannot be used, according to the suitability of the ground.

6th REGION INCENTIVE

In order to encourage new investments to be made in the region, we include our districts, which were heavily damaged by earthquakes, into the Attraction Centers Programme. Thus, all the investments to be made; we will benefit from our top incentives, namely the 6th region incentives. In addition, we launched the KOSGEB Emergency Support Loan Program to meet the urgent needs of our SMEs. We will provide interest-free loan support up to TL 1,5 million to our SMEs, depending on the size of the business and the damage it has received.

HOUSING PROBLEM

Again, I have previously stated that we have started our work to partially or completely delete KOSGEB receivables in the disaster area. One of the biggest needs in the region is the housing problem of our working brothers. At this point, we have decided to provide support up to 30 thousand liras per container to SMEs that will buy containers. Thus, we aim to enable our SMEs, which provide shelter to their employees, to stand up much faster.

“WE ARE HERE” MESSAGE!

The first of Minister Varank's visits throughout the day was the factories in Gölbaşı OSB, which were badly damaged by the earthquakes. It was seen that a textile factory was destroyed by the intensity of the earthquakes, and the machinery and equipment in it became unusable. In another textile factory producing hats, berets and gloves, production resumed weeks later. To the first shift of earthquake survivor workers, “We are here. It was noteworthy that they started by producing hats with the print of “We love Gölbaşı”.
