As you know, Mersin was also affected by the earthquakes that started on February 6 and are still continuing. There were many earthquake victims who came to Mersin. Therefore, as the Metropolitan Municipality and City Theater team, we have been running to help earthquake victims since the first day of the earthquake. We want to be with them. We want them to feel that they are not alone. So this March 27, our curtains were closed. We are in a bit of a sorry state because of this great disaster our country has been through," he said.

We wanted to give priority to local writers especially to close this season. 'Truck', an adult game written by Mehmet Baydur, is currently being studied. Our children's play 'Little Red Riding Hood', written by Kenan Korbek, one of the valuable artists of Mersin opera, has just begun, and we are continuing its rehearsals. On the other hand, 'Will You Please Marry My Daughter' written by Muzaffer İzgü, one of the most important writers of Turkish literature. The play is currently in the rehearsal process. We hope that we will meet again with our audience as soon as possible. There is a theater in this city. This theater belongs to all of us, to all people of Mersin. Therefore, when we start our representations, we sincerely want to meet with them. Because we really missed our games and our audience," he said.

“We are preparing games for children and adults in earthquakes”

Stating that they are preparing plays for earthquake victims living in Mersin, Sarıkaya said, “As the City Theater, we prepare plays for earthquake victims and adults. We hope that they will watch the plays we have prepared and that we will meet with them there. Because we love the healing and unifying power of theatre. That theater life, where everyone is away from all their worries, watching the actors on the stage and forgetting their own troubles for a short time, is really very precious for us. For this reason, when we started to represent, we are waiting for our dear Mersin residents and theater lovers living in Mersin to our plays.
