China's Nuclear Report Welcomed by International Atomic Energy Agency

The report prepared by China was appreciated yesterday at the 8th and 9th Joint Review Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Nuclear Safety Convention (CNS) held at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

The Chinese delegation presented China's national report at the meeting yesterday. In the report, detailed information was given about the achievements in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants in China in the past 6 years, the nuclear safety situation in China, inspection studies, the implementation status of the Vienna Nuclear Safety Declaration, and the actions to respond to the negative effects of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accidents. In particular, new measures in the safety inspection for new types of nuclear reactors, China's successful experiences in nuclear safety were explained, so China's plans for global nuclear security development were presented. The report was appreciated by all the fans.

In his speech at the meeting, China's Deputy Minister of Ecology and Environment and Chairman of the Chinese State Nuclear Security Administration Dong Baotong pointed out that China, which is the world's most important nuclear electricity producer, has long considered nuclear safety an important national responsibility, and that they will strengthen cooperation with other countries on nuclear safety in the coming days, therefore, he stressed that they will form the unity of destiny of nuclear security.
