After the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, the children of the families hosted in Bitlis had a good day skiing with sledges at the event held at Bitlis Eren University Ski Center.

Families of earthquake victims staying in Bitlis KYK Student Dormitories and many citizens from Bitlis center and districts attended the event, which was held in cooperation with NGOs such as Bitlis Eren University Continuing Education Center Directorate, Bitlis Red Crescent, Civilization Platform, Vangölü Activists, and Bitlis February 6 Volunteer Movement.

The children enjoyed themselves in the activity organized within the framework of psychosocial support activities for the families and children of earthquake victims.

Accompanying the children on the ski track, Bitlis Eren University Rector Prof. Dr. Necmettin Elmastaş stated that they are trying to heal their wounds by organizing psychosocial activities for families and children hosted in the dormitories. Elmastaş said, “Due to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, we hosted the families and their children in our ski resort. Our little guests played snowballs by sliding with sledges. We attach importance to such activities so that they get rid of earthquake psychology. Together, we will heal the wounds of this earthquake, which is described as the disaster of the century. I wish God's mercy once again to our citizens who lost their lives in this earthquake, and a speedy recovery to our injured people." said.

Referring to the number of earthquake victims who came to Bitlis after the earthquake, Rector Elmastaş said, “We know that approximately 6 thousand people came to Bitlis after the earthquake. We host some of our citizens who come to our city in our KYK dormitories. On the other hand, the wounds started to heal rapidly from the date of the earthquake in the disaster area. While the debris removal works continued, the construction process started quickly. Hopefully, our state and nation will join hands to heal these wounds as soon as possible and we will get rid of the psycho-social impact of this devastating disaster together. Our cities and other settlements in the earthquake zone will be rebuilt. May God not let such a disaster happen again.” He used his expressions.

Scarves, berets and gloves knitted by volunteer women were distributed to earthquake victims at the snow-sled event held at Bitlis Eren University Ski Center.
