Disabled Esmanur Karahan, who survived the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş and settled with her aunt in Istanbul, is receiving education at the Feyzullah Kıyıklık Palace for the Disabled in Bağcılar Municipality. Karahan sent 300 kilos of mushrooms, which he harvested with his disabled friends, to his peers in the earthquake area.

After the two earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, a helping hand is reaching out to the disaster victims from all parts of the society. The trainees of Bağcılar Municipality Feyzullah Kıyıklık Palace for the Disabled also took action in this context. Mushroom production workshop trainees decided to send the mushrooms they obtained from the March harvest to the earthquake zone.

“We will send mushrooms to earthquake victims”

Among the trainees is Esmanur Karahan, a 16-year-old mentally handicapped person. Saying that he was caught in an earthquake in Kahramanmaraş, Karahan said, “We were living on the fourth floor. When the earthquake started, we collapsed and closed. I was so scared. Then we went out. We stayed in the car for a while. My uncle passed away. I came to Istanbul and I am staying with my aunt. I am studying at the Palace for the Disabled. We will send the mushrooms we collected here with our friends to our earthquake victims. Do not be afraid, these days will pass. We are all with them,” he said.

There were also emotional moments during the mushroom harvest. The disabled people of Bağcılar embraced Esmanur, who had just joined them. He consoled the trainees and trainers who could not hold back their tears.
