A great mobilization has started in Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Skills and Vocational Training Courses (BELMEK) to help earthquake victims. Master trainers and trainees who sewed needs such as tracksuits, pajamas and underwear and sent them to the region have now started to sew bed linens for citizens in earthquake zones.

After the earthquake disaster, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which was vigilant with all its units, is also carrying out a feverish work for earthquake-affected citizens in the Skills and Vocational Training Courses (BELMEK) with the coordination of master trainers and trainees.

58 BELMEK centers, which have been transformed into aid collection centers since the first day of the earthquakes that stifled Turkey, have now been turned into sewing workshops.

IT WAS SENT TO THE REGIONS BY SEWING ACCORDING TO NEEDS

In 20 BELMEK centers that have been converted into workshops, trainees have been sent to the regions by sewing according to many needs, from tracksuits to pajamas and underwear.

Finally, 12 thousand meters of fabric was purchased from the centers and bed linens were started to be sewn to be sent to the citizens in the earthquake zones.

IN THE FIRST STAGE, 3 THOUSAND COVERS WILL BE SEWED

Stating that 12 thousand meters of fabric was purchased and distributed to BELMEKs, Department of Culture and Social Affairs Vocational Branch Manager Haluk Erdemir said, “From the first week of the earthquake, we turned all our course centers into aid collection centers. We thought about what we could do within our own means and in the first place we sewed clothes. We sent hundreds of tracksuits and pajama sets, which were sewn together by master trainers and trainees, to the regions. We have just started sewing bedding sets. Because we act according to the needs of the region. In the first stage, 3 thousand bedding sets will be sewn. Again, in line with the needs coming from the region, we will continue to mobilize all our resources until we heal our wounds.”

THE SEWING OF THE MATERIALS NEEDED WILL CONTINUE

Master teacher Hülya Akan Usta said, “I am a mosaic teacher. We are trying to be as supportive as we can. We hope we can help you even a little bit” while another master trainer Hayriye İşlek said “I am a clothing teacher. We sew bedding sets for the use of the citizens in the earthquake area. I hope we can give them a support, we can make them happy. "I believe we can overcome this disaster together," he said.

After packing the duvet cover sets, which experienced personnel will quickly complete their sewing, will be delivered to the earthquake victims. Until the needs are met in earthquake zones, the sewing of the requested materials will continue to be done by BELMEK.
