Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that 864 million vehicles have been using the Northern Marmara Highway, which takes the freight and transit traffic of the Marmara Region out of the city, since the day it was opened, and emphasized that this project has saved 5.4 billion liras per year.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a written statement about the Northern Marmara Highway. Noting that the 398-kilometer-long highway starting from Kınalı extends to Sakarya Akyazı, Karaismailoğlu said, “North Marmara Highway is a high standard, uninterrupted, safe and comfortable road by reducing the traffic density in Istanbul's city and on the existing Bosphorus bridges, without the vehicles entering the city traffic. provided the transit pass. With the highway passing around the industrial zones in Istanbul, Kocaeli and Sakarya provinces, we ensured direct access of the industrial zones to the highway.”

WE WILL BUILD A HIGHWAY NETWORK IN MARMARA REGION

Reminding that the Odayeri-Paşaköy section was opened on August 26, 2016, Karaismailoğlu stated that a total of 864 million vehicles have used the highway since that date. Underlining that with this project, 5.4 billion liras were saved annually, Karaismailoğlu stated that carbon emissions decreased by 425 thousand tons. Emphasizing that the Northern Marmara Highway is integrated with the Istanbul-İzmir Highway and the TEM Highway from several points, and that it will be connected to the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway in the future, Karaismailoğlu said, He said they will build a highway network.

Stating that the project also includes the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, one of the world's most important engineering structures, Karaismailoğlu noted that the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, with its 59-meter width, is the bridge with the widest deck in the world. Karaismailoğlu said:

“Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge was designed to allow high-speed trains and freight trains to pass over it. Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, whose towers reach a height of 322 meters, has a main span length of 1408 meters. The total length of the bridge reaches 2 meters with its side openings.”
