Samsun Governor Zülkif Dağlı, who was appointed by the Ministry of Interior to be responsible for nutritional services in the region after the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, said that the wounds of the earthquake continue to be healed with the solidarity of the state and nation.

Dağlı stated that after the two earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, the nutritional services for the victims are carried out meticulously under the coordination of AFAD in the city, and said, “From the first day, we have been providing our citizens with bread, food aids and three meals a day, starting with hot soup. Our Red Crescent has 80 soup kitchens and cooking points. We cook and distribute food at more than 230 points with the food services provided by our non-governmental organizations, municipalities, District National Education directorates and schools.” said.

Dağlı stated that bread is made in mobile mobile ovens belonging to the Turkish Red Crescent, Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, Gendarmerie General Command and Land Forces Command, and that as of today, more than 350 thousand breads are produced daily. “We have given three meals to our citizens 3 million times. That's a really big number." Using his statements, Dağlı noted that 23 thousand people were given hot food daily.

Dağlı stated that they are obliged to distribute the eating places to all arteries and regions.

“We have tent cities, tent areas between neighborhoods, and school yards where our citizens gather and take shelter. In all of these, we distribute a complete and simultaneously hot meal to our citizens. This service continues uninterrupted.” Dağlı said that this service will continue until life becomes normal.

Food Engineers Maintain Food Inspections

Dağlı explained that they also provide the distribution of dry food and hygiene materials to the earthquake victims and stated that nutrition and food is a strategic and important business. Pointing out that these should also be inspected in this sense, Dağlı said, “We have 13 teams for this. We carry out food inspections in the center and districts with their vehicles through our food engineers. We also ensure that attention is paid to hygiene and health.” he said. Dağlı stated that the flow of materials to the region was very high in the first days of the earthquake, and noted that these aid materials were distributed in a planned manner without causing waste.

Dağlı stated that the Turkish Red Crescent in Kahramanmaraş provides nutrition services with 224 personnel, 721 volunteers and 249 vehicles, and that more than 350 thousand breads are delivered to the earthquake victims daily in the region, as well as 2 million 579 thousand 808 food items, 1 million 471 thousand 897 bowls of soup and 841 thousand 576 boxes. He stated that the drink was distributed.
