Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç said that the zero emission route in the fight against climate change is progressing at full speed with 6 electric buses, 72 rail system vehicles and 650 bicycles. Büyükkılıç said that they aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make Kayseri one of the country's most important renewable energy production centers in order to reach the net zero target.
President Büyükkılıç reminded that the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Mustafa Varank, pointed out the importance of zero-emission vehicles in the fight against climate change, and said that they carried out important studies in the field of transportation in this context.
Büyükkılıç stated that Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Inc. has started to monitor, measure, report and verify greenhouse gas emissions since 2016, and that it is included in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), and that Turkey was a part of the Carbon Disclosure Project at that time. President Büyükkılıç, in his statement, said, “Our route is zero emissions. We can list some of the important works we have done in this regard as energy efficient driving, optimization and efficiency of public transport lines, targets to reduce waste, and adding CNG and electric vehicles with lower emission values to our fleet.
“NUMBER OF BICYCLES WILL RISE TO 900”
Emphasizing that they contribute to zero-emission mobility with 650 bicycles, Büyükkılıç said, “In addition, KAYBİS, which is Turkey's first bicycle sharing system, contributes to zero-emission mobility with 2023 bicycles in a total of 57 stations in 650. In 2023, the number of bicycle stations will increase to 81 and the number of bicycles to 900,” he said.
6 ELECTRIC BUS, 72 RAIL SYSTEM VEHICLES
Stating that there are 6 electric buses and 72 rail system vehicles, Mayor Büyükkılıç said, “In addition to CNG vehicles, we also have 6 18-meter electric buses and 72 rail system vehicles in our city. With these vehicles, we both save fuel and minimize carbon dioxide emissions.”
Büyükkılıç added that the number of rail system vehicles will reach 2023 by the end of 80.
