In the earthquake, the epicenter of which was Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş, our state continues to work in coordination with all its institutions.

In this framework, the “Earthquake emergency” heading has been made available at CIMER, which operates within the Directorate of Communications.

7,4 magnitude earthquake in Kahramanmaraş-Pazarcık

On February 6, 2023, at 04.17:7,4, an earthquake of XNUMX magnitude occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş.

After the earthquake, 6,6 aftershocks occurred as of now, the largest of which was 42 magnitude.

Earthquake; It was felt intensely in the surrounding provinces, especially in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Osmaniye, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Malatya and Adana.

According to the first information received from SAKOM, as of now, 76 of our citizens lost their lives in Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman and Malatya; 440 of our citizens were injured in Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Malatya, Osmaniye, Hatay and Kilis.

Within the scope of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan, the level of the earthquake was declared as the 4th level and all disaster groups gathered in our provinces and in the AFAD center of the Presidency.

In meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international assistance was called for in the field of urban search and rescue through the ERCC.

To support coordination in the region; The Governor of Kayseri was assigned to Kahramanmaraş, the Governor of Mersin to Hatay, the Governor of Mardin to Gaziantep, the Governor of Tunceli to Adıyaman, the Governor of Bingöl to Osmaniye and the Governor of Sivas to Malatya.

2 planes were assigned to carry the teams directed to the region by the General Staff. All provincial AFAD Directorates were put on alert and all teams, especially search and rescue, were sent to the region.
