The Number of Stations on the İZBAN Line, which was 41, will increase to 45

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started to work to add 3 new stops to İZBAN in 4 districts. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which will go out to tender again in February for the stations of Lale Mahallesi in Konak and Katip Çelebi University in Çiğli, started negotiations with TCDD for the stations of Koyundere and Asarlık in Menemen.

Works have been started to add four more stations to the 136-kilometer İZBAN line, which was brought to the city in cooperation with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD).

Two new stops to Menemen

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerTechnical opinion was requested from TCDD for Koyundere and Asarlık stations, which were given the good news by TCDD in Menemen. Koyundere and Asarlık stations, which are planned to be built to facilitate the access of the dense population living in the region to İZBAN, will first go to the project tender after TCDD approves the station locations. After the approval of TCDD for the project to be prepared after the tender, the construction tender process will be started.

Tender is going out again for Lale and Katip Çelebi stops

In addition to the station works in Menemen, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is starting the tender process again for Lale Mahallesi in Konak and Katip Çelebi University stations in Çiğli. Despite the start of construction works in Lale Mahallesi in 2021, the contractor firm terminated the tender and stopped the works due to the economic crisis. Upon the completion of the Katip Çelebi University station project, a joint tender was made for the two stations. After no bids were made for the tenders of the stations that will solve the transportation problem in both districts, a re-construction tender will be held in February. The construction works, which will start after the tender process, are planned to be completed in 18 months. Within the scope of the construction works, two stations that will be integrated into İZBAN will be built above ground and put into service.

The number of stops on the 136-kilometer line will increase to 45.

Turkey's longest suburban line was put into service in 2010 with 80 kilometers between Aliağa and Menderes. İzmir Suburban System İZBAN line, which was built in partnership with TCDD and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, was first extended to Torbalı. Then, the 26-kilometer section between Tepeköy and Selçuk was put into service. İZBAN line reached 136 kilometers with the participation of Selçuk Station. The number of stations on the İZBAN line, which is 41, will increase to 45 with the commissioning of the new stations.
