Izmir Metropolitan Municipality established the "Izmir Psychosocial Support Network" for those affected by the earthquake disaster. Aiming to minimize the effects of trauma experienced by earthquake victims, the experts of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will provide psycho-social support services either face-to-face or remotely.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality rolled up its sleeves to heal the wounds of the earthquake disaster affecting 10 provinces. The Metropolitan Municipality, which enables earthquake victims to reach services easily and quickly by sending various units to earthquake regions, also established the "İzmir Psychosocial Support Network". Psychosocial Support Working Team of 100 people, consisting of psychologists, sociologists, social workers, psychological counselors, child development specialists and kindergarten teachers, who worked at the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Social Projects Department and the Department of Health Affairs after the earthquake, helped both the earthquake victims who came to Izmir and the earthquake victims. will serve the citizens of the region.

Stating that the psychosocial support teams, who are experts in their field, will start working primarily in Hatay in order to minimize the effects of the trauma experienced by the earthquake victims, Dr. Sertaç Dölek said, “Earthquake is the reality of our country and city. As Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we continue our 'Health in Disaster and Emergency Situations' studies and our trainings before, during and after the earthquake without interruption. We cooperate with non-governmental organizations operating at the national level in the field of psychosocial support. Our priority is to guide the trauma process correctly.”
We will bind our wounds together
Reminding that they were with the people of Izmir who called the Psychological Support Line, as the Department of Social Projects and the Department of Health Affairs, during the Izmir Earthquake in 2020. Dölek said, “We will provide psycho-social support to our citizens affected by the earthquake, either by going to them or by face-to-face, telephone or remotely. We will bandage our wounds together," he said.
