Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, who was in the earthquake area, made an examination in the areas affected by the earthquake in Malatya Doğanşehir and wished the citizens to get well soon.

Minister Özer announced that education was suspended in Turkey until 13 February due to the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and affected many provinces in the region.

In his statement, Özer said: “As of today, we will open all our schools across Turkey on February 13, so that not only the provinces in the earthquake zone but also the surrounding provinces can manage the processes in a peaceful way, taking into account the current climatic conditions in Turkey and in the context of much more peaceful work in earthquake zones. We are on vacation for a week. Thus, as a nation and a state, we have taken this decision in terms of both carrying out the processes more comfortably and facilitating the access of our citizens in other provinces, especially those who have relatives in these 10 provinces. But while making this decision, all of our schools in all of our provinces, especially in 10 provinces, will be open for the service of our citizens. All kinds of services related to accommodation and catering will be delivered to our citizens in our schools and teachers' homes 7/24 without interruption.
