Chinese Company Delivers First Metro Train to Portugal

The Chinese company CRRC Tangshan delivered the first metro train to the country yesterday at a ceremony held at the Trindade metro station in the center of Porto, Portugal. Thus, a Chinese company exported an urban rail system vehicle to a European Union country for the first time.

Portuguese Minister of Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, stated that the new type of metro train fully meets the demands of passengers on issues such as comfort and safety.

Zhao Bentang, the Chinese Ambassador to Lisbon, noted that the new type of subway train provided by CRRC Tangshang to the city of Porto sets an example that bilateral cooperation will further advance in the future, as a result of the high-level concrete cooperation between China and Portugal.

It is planned that the first metro train will be put into service in May after the relevant tests, and the other trains will be delivered to the country in groups by the end of September.
