Families whose buildings were destroyed or damaged after the 7,7 and 7,6 magnitude earthquakes in Pazarcık and Elbistan districts continue to live in shelters established in different parts of the city.

Female Gendarmes are also on duty in the event area created in Osmaniye Kayı Boyu Girls' Dormitory for earthquake victims to get away from the devastating agenda of the disaster and have a healthy time.

The Gendarmerie personnel, who come together with children in play dough, painting and painting activities, make an effort to make them forget the pain of the earthquake for a bit.

Kids Move Away From Trauma with Activities

Gendarmerie Petty Officer Senior Sergeant Dilek Bektaş stated that children should have games, not problems, in their imaginations, and said that they made an effort to raise the morale of earthquake survivors.

Stating that they came from Muğla to support the children who were affected by the earthquake, Bektaş said, “We organized an event with our other female non-commissioned officers to increase their morale and motivation. We have come to heal our wounds, I hope we will get through these difficult days.” said.

Mentioning that they always stand by our citizens, Bektaş said, “We are trying to offer support in every matter. Children are very happy to see us. I hope they see happier and better days. Children get away from trauma with activities. They are affected and frightened by the earthquake. After we interacted with them, they got over it a bit because they were interested in the game. The world of children is different.” he said.

Children are kept away from the Earthquake Atmosphere with Activities

12-year-old Ecrin Çetin, who participated in the activities supported by volunteers from different institutions, especially the Gendarmerie personnel, stated that they had a good time and said, “We play with the Gendarmerie sisters and draw pictures with play dough. I also paint because I love them so much, I will give them as gifts.” he said.

10-year-old Hatice Kızılay said that they had fun at the events she attended with her sister, and that she usually paints using colored pencils.

Eight-year-old primary school student Eylül Memişoğlu thanked the Gendarmerie sisters who took care of them closely.
