AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş., which carries out the construction project of Turkey's first nuclear power plant, is preparing to build a residential area for Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) operating personnel. In this context, AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş signed a contract with the Turkish construction company Özaltın İnşaat.

In addition to apartments of different sizes, there will be a kindergarten and school, shops, restaurants and cafes, a medical center and pharmacy, sports and social and cultural complexes and a hotel in this new residential area to be built. The residential area, which will accommodate more than 6.000 people, will also be equipped with a common recreation area for all residents. The final phase of the project, which will be implemented in three phases, is planned to be completed by the end of 2025.

Making evaluations on the subject, AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. General Manager Anastasia Zoteeva said: “Starting the construction of this residential area is a new and important stage in the development of the project. Living and creating comfortable conditions for employees and their families is an important component of the efficient operation of a large industrial facility such as a nuclear power plant. The human being is our greatest asset and we will do everything necessary to make this new city, which will be built here on hospitable Turkish soil, as comfortable as possible for the employees of the future nuclear power plant. Everything necessary will be provided in the town area. Areas for sports will be built, necessary conditions will be created to organize children's free time. These are not only residential buildings and social infrastructure facilities, but also unique park areas with their architecture, where residents and guests can spend their free time. Russian and Turkish experts will have all the necessary conditions to live a full, happy life and work productively at Turkey's first nuclear power plant.”

Özaltın İnşaat General Manager Muzaffer Özdemir evaluated the project with these words: “The place where the town of nuclear experts will be built has been chosen very well. It is located at a point not far from the seaside, but also very close to Silifke and Taşucu. This new settlement is also located between the two major international airports, Antalya and Çukurova Airports. In other words, it is very advantageous for those living in these cities. We, as Özaltın İnşaat, are also constructing the main part of the Mersin-Antalya coastal road. After the construction of this highway is completed, transportation from any airport to the settlement will become much easier and more comfortable. Construction of the residential area will be carried out in three phases. After the completion of the first phase, we plan to put more than 800 flats, a 1000-person school and a 450-person kindergarten into operation. When the construction of all three phases is completed, there will be more than 2.700 flats in total. The area of the settlement town will be more than 700 thousand square meters. Housing and all related social infrastructure facilities have been designed to meet all the needs of its residents. In the residential town, a recreational area, commercial and cultural facilities and a hotel will also be built. We have extensive experience in the design and construction of residential complexes. This residential area, where Turkey's first nuclear experts will live, will also be of the most modern standards. We will do our best to ensure that the personnel of Turkey's first nuclear power plant live in comfortable conditions in modern homes.”

The site determined for the construction of the residential area is ready for the construction work to begin. In this context, the necessary zoning works have been completed and all permits have been obtained for the use of the lands for housing construction.
