7 Tons of Waste Was Collected From 26 Dam Basins That Meet Istanbul's Water Need

IMM teams cleaned the 7 dam basins within the provincial borders that meet the water needs of Istanbul. Approximately 26 tons of waste, including tubs, rowboats, water tanks and barbecues, was collected at the Terkos, Ömerli, Alibey, Elmalı, Sazlıdere, Darlık and Büyükçekmece dams.

İSTAÇ AŞ, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, cleaned the wastes that emerged due to the air temperature being above seasonal normals and the decrease in water in the dams after months without precipitation. As a result of the cleaning works that lasted for 476 week with 83 personnel and 1 vehicles, approximately 26 tons of waste was collected in the Terkos, Ömerli, Alibey, Elmalı, Sazlıdere, Darlık and Büyükçekmece dams. Among the wastes, it was noted that materials such as chairs, bathtubs, boats, water tanks, inflatable boats, barbecues, and vehicle tires were found.

“COMMON FUTURE OF US AND OUR CHILDREN”

İSTAÇ AŞ Deputy General Manager of Field Services, Fatih Uğur, gave a message about an environmentally conscious approach and said, “With the withdrawal of water in 7 dam basins that meet Istanbul's water needs, our friends collected approximately 1 tons of waste after a feverish work for a week. Drinking water basins are our and our children's common future. Let's protect our future together by throwing our garbage in the garbage cans, not the environment.
