28 thousand 44 people were evacuated from the disaster area

AFAD announced that 28 thousand 44 people were evacuated from the provinces affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes by road, rail and air.

In the written statement made by AFAD, it was stated:

“For our citizens affected by the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş, who want to go out of the province due to their shelter needs, the Gendarmerie units have created evacuation areas in the provinces where they are located. The evacuation of our citizens who apply to these points with a request for evacuation is provided by the most appropriate means to be determined by the authorities. As of February 9, 2023 at 11.38 pm, a total of 4 thousand 607 citizens were evacuated from the disaster area, 23 thousand 437 by road and railway, and 28 thousand 44 by air. Our evacuated citizens are placed in the accommodation areas and guesthouses determined under the coordination of the governorships in the provinces and AFAD. If our citizens who want to leave the disaster area with their own means of transportation make a notification to the Gendarmerie evacuation points before leaving, they are directed to the shelter points in the provinces they will go to.
