18 Wagon Loads of Humanitarian Aid Train Departs from Izmir

After the severe earthquakes that occurred in the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş at short intervals and affected a total of 10 provinces, a significant contribution is made from İzmir to the nationwide aid mobilization.

Izmir Governor's Office, which sent a large number of aid materials, tools, equipment and personnel to the region immediately after the earthquakes, continues to deliver the aid it coordinates to the earthquake victims every day with various transportation vehicles.

The Izmir Governor's Office had previously delivered humanitarian aid to the region, which was loaded on 2 ro-ro ships, a train with 29 wagons, 264 trucks and 337 trucks/vans. On the evening of Tuesday, February 14, 18 wagons full of new aid collected from Biçerova Train Station by district governorships, public institutions and organizations, NGOs and benevolent people from Izmir were sent off to Gaziantep.

With the farewell attended by İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, 15 tons (3 wagons) of food materials, approximately 80 tons (4 wagons) of water, milk and fruit juice, approximately 60 tons of (3 wagons) were brought with a train train consisting of 8 covered and 2 open wagons. blankets and shrouds, approximately 50 tons (4 wagons) of baby and hygiene items, approximately 5 tons (1 wagon) of clothing materials, approximately 12 tons (1 wagon) of stove-heater, stovepipe, approximately 20 tons (1 open wagon) of wood, approximately 14 tons (1 open wagon) of coal-wood, approximately 500 kg (1 open wagon), 2 mobile toilets (4 compartments) were sent to the earthquake victims.

Noting that on the 9th day of the earthquake, the people of Izmir tried to help the region from the first day, Governor Köşger said that the solidarity experienced in İzmir, which was shaken by a severe earthquake in 2020, was revealed in this great disaster.

Expressing that they are grateful to the people of Izmir for their unity and solidarity, their diligent work and efforts, Governor Köşger underlined that these aids should continue without slowing down for a while, and said, “The state of mobilization that has emerged right after the earthquakes until today is a kind of picture that cannot be seen in other nations. . Both this nation and the world community will never forget the humanitarian aids collected and sent to the region, and the efforts in the search and rescue efforts carried out in the provinces of the region. I hope our beloved nation will get through this sad and troubled period. Again get well soon. I wish God's mercy on our citizens who lost their lives, and a speedy recovery to our injured people." he said.
