German automotive giant Opel is preparing to stand out with its electric models in 2023. As Opel's move to switch to electric continues at full speed, the new Opel Astra-e will mark the year as the most important model of the brand. The Mokka-e will continue to support Opel's move to electric with its more powerful engine and increased electric driving range. In addition, 2023 will be an important year for the brand's dynamic sub-brand, GSe. Astra GSe, Astra Sports Tourer GSe and Grandland GSe will take their place at dealers. Opel will also continue its electrified, zero-emission rally excitement next season. The ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup, the world's first electric and single-brand rally cup, will enter its third season in 2023 with the Opel Corsa-e Rally.

Stating that Opel's transition towards becoming an all-electric brand will continue in 2023, Opel CEO Florian Huettl said, “Our customers will understand this better, especially when they sit on one of our dynamic GSe models for the first time or enjoy their first test drives with the new Astra-e. The 6th generation Opel Astra, the pioneer of its class, was awarded the “2022 Golden Steering Wheel Award” shortly after its launch. Now, Opel is ushering in a new era with the Astra-e. Spring in Europe of the new Opel Astra-e; It is aimed to be put on sale in Turkey in the second half of the year. Thus, the brand with the lightning logo will introduce the first fully electric version of the Astra, the best-selling and most successful model in the compact class, to its customers. But that's not all. The five-door electric Astra will be followed by the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer-e, a German manufacturer's first all-electric station wagon model.

The new Astra-e offers its users zero emission driving pleasure. Its electric motor produces 115 kW/156 HP and 270 Nm of torque, and can reach a maximum speed of 170 km/h. The energy is stored in a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery. With this battery, the new Astra-e reaches a range of up to 416 kilometers with zero emissions according to the WLTP norm.

Opel will soon also offer more power and longer range for the Mokka-e. The “2021 Golden Steering Wheel Award” all-electric model will be available with a larger battery on request in the future. With its new 54 kWh battery, the Mokka-e will be able to reach a range of up to 403 kilometers according to the WLTP norm, in addition to being zero-emissions. This means a 327 percent increase compared to the currently offered 23 km range.

Opel's new dynamic sub-brand Gse (Grand Sport Electric) sheds light on the sporty future. Electric top models Opel Astra GSe, Opel Astra Sports Tourer GSe and Opel Grandland GSe will soon be available to order in Europe.

New Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSe with 165 kW/225 HP and 360 Nm torque (fuel consumption according to WLTP norm: 1,2-1,1 l/ 100 km, CO2 emissions 26-25 g/km; both mean, temporary values) for its class reveals qualities that will rewrite the rules of the game. Thus, sporty maximum speed is achieved as well as fast take-offs. The GSe versions in the Astra range also provide high feedback and superior driving dynamics. Steering, suspension and brakes respond instantly to driver commands. KONI FSD suspension technology provides different damping properties depending on driving conditions for precise handling and high comfort characteristics.

This also applies to the new Grandland GSe. The high-performance SUV goes one step further in terms of performance. In the Grandland GSe, the 1,6-liter turbocharged petrol engine is supplemented by two electric motors, one on each axle. Thus, 221 kW/300 HP (fuel consumption according to WLTP norm: 1,3 lt/100 km, CO2 emissions 31-29 g/km; average, weighted, temporary values ​​under all conditions) system power emerges. The rechargeable hybrid powertrain makes the Grandland GSe a sporty SUV with permanent electric all-wheel drive and provides best-in-class acceleration values. The Grandland GSe accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 6,1 seconds and allows a maximum speed of 235 km/h (135 km/h all-electric).

“Electric rally pioneer: ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup enters its third season”

Opel will inspire motorsport again from spring. In May 2023, the third season of the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup will begin. Preparations for the upcoming race are in full swing and Opel hopes to repeat the successful 2022 season. The schedule for the world's first and only electric single-brand rally coupe will be updated again for the upcoming season. After completing seven events in the first two years, the Opel Corsa-e Rally will complete eight rally events in four countries in 2023.
