China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) Dalian Co. Ltd, the first battery-powered locomotive was put into operation in Bangkok on Wednesday (January 11th). This type of locomotive will help Thailand reduce carbon emissions as well as improve rail services.

The locomotive was successfully tested at State Railway of Thailand Bangkok's Bang Sue Grand Station. Speaking at the test ceremony, the Minister of Transport of Thailand praised his country's cooperation with China in the field of railways and pointed out that the test carried out in this context is an important development in the field of battery-powered locomotive.

The locomotive in question was developed in partnership with CRRC Dalian from China and Energy Absolute Public Company Limited (EA) from Thailand. In this context, EA's CEO stated that the locomotive, which runs on battery energy and is manufactured in China with the world's most advanced technology, meets Thailand's requirements both in terms of cost reduction, energy saving and emission reduction.

According to CRRC Dalian, this battery-powered locomotive was designed and manufactured by China, taking into account Thailand's original conditions for passenger and freight transport. The six-axle locomotive can pull a 2-ton freight train at 500 kilometers per hour or a thousand-ton passenger train at 70 kilometers per hour.
