Culverts Expanded Against Flood Risk in Balçova

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality İZSU General Directorate continues its work at the points where there is flooding in heavy rains. Renovation works carried out in areas where it was determined that there was a negative experience in Balçova before, prevent possible floods.

İZSU General Directorate took action to prevent the repetition of the previous flooding at the highway crossing under the ring road in Balçova. After the flood in Mollakuyu Stream, İZSU teams made investigations in the region and started the expansion of the culverts in the stream. Existing open and narrow section culverts were closed and the culvert width was approximately doubled. The works were carried out entirely with İZSU personnel and equipment. İZSU teams completed the project before the planned time, working nonstop for two days in order to prevent the traffic from being disrupted for a long time in one of the busiest points of the city.
