Camel Wrestling Festival in Denizli

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality is organizing the second camel wrestling, which is an important tradition of the nomadic culture, the first of which was held last year. 120 wrestler camels will fight fiercely on Sunday, January 15 at the Traditional Turkish Sports Games Complex. President Osman Zolan invited all his fellow countrymen to the free organization.

Metropolitan continues to protect the nomadic culture

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, which attaches great importance to social and cultural projects in addition to the physical investments it has realized in Denizli, is organizing the second camel wrestling, which is an important tradition of the Yörük culture, the first of which was held last year. In order to keep the nomadic culture alive and pass it on to future generations, the excitement of camel wrestling will take place at the Metropolitan Municipality Traditional Turkish Sports Games Complex (below Albayrak Square) on Sunday, January 15, 2023. In addition to Denizli, 120 wrestlers coming from the surrounding provinces, especially Aydın and Muğla, will fight fiercely in the Traditional Turkish Sports Games Complex. Participation in camel wrestling, which is one of the biggest entertainments of the people of the region, especially the Yoruks in Denizli and Aegean Region, and where historical and cultural elements are kept alive, will be free of charge.

Invitation to camel wrestling from President Zolan

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Osman Zolan, who stated that participation in the camel wrestling, which will be held for the second time at Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Traditional Turkish Sports Games Complex on Sunday, January 15, 2023, is free of charge, invited all his fellow countrymen to this special event. Stating that it is the only private camel wrestling organization in Turkey that can be watched in the tribune system, Mayor Zolan said, “We continue to protect our values, considering that camel wrestling is an important tradition of our nomadic culture, a part of our cultural richness. We have completed all our preparations for this beautiful organization where participation will be free of charge. We are waiting for all wrestling lovers from our city and surrounding cities to our Denizli on Sunday.”
