Hatay Academic Professional Chambers Coordination Board (HAMOK) launched the 'Blood and Stem Cell Donation Campaign', the first social responsibility project of 2023.

Yahya Hamurcu, Chairman of the Hatay Chamber of Veterinarians, said in a statement regarding the campaign, “After our meetings with the Hatay Turkish Red Crescent officials, we learned that blood donation is not at the desired level in our country and our province and that blood is needed more and more every day, we decided to organize this event. In developed countries, 3-4 percent of the total country's population donates blood in a year. When this amount is donated, the need for blood and blood products of that country can be met, and the sick or injured who go to the hospital do not have to worry about 'not finding blood'.” used the phrases.

Underlining that the annual blood donation rate in Turkey is 1 percent, Hamurcu said, “The annual blood requirement in Turkey is approximately 3 million units. Although our province of Hatay collects 60 thousand units of blood per year, it is not considered sufficient to meet the need. It is very important to donate blood because its only resource is human and there is no substitute to replace it when needed.” he said.

Hamurcu stated that they will continue the campaign they started as HAMOK throughout the year, and said:

“According to the interest of our members and people who will donate blood, we plan to repeat the blood donation in the future and spread it to all our branches and representatives in Hatay. We hope that this event, which has a very important place among our social responsibilities, will be completed successfully.”
