Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has completed the renovation works it carried out in the "Ulus Anafartalar Municipality Bazaar", which was built in 1956.

Located at the intersection of Ulus Government Street and Anafartalar Street and with an area of ​​1735 square meters; It has gained a brand new look with the landscaping after the renovation made on its interior-exterior facade and roof while preserving its historical texture.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has completed the renovation works that it started in the 60-year-old historical "Ulus Anafartalar Municipality Bazaar" within the scope of the "Ulus Historical City Center Urban Site Renovation Project".

The tradesmen's shops, which have been in disrepair for a long time, in the 1735 square meter Municipality Bazaar at the intersection of Ulus Government Street and Anafartalar Street, have gained a new state.

GOT A BRAND NEW LOOK IN 4 MONTHS

The bazaar, which was prepared within the scope of the project by the teams of the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage; The roof was renewed, the signboard and interior-exterior facades were reconstructed to be uniform with materials suitable for the historical texture, the shutters and awnings were changed and a new look was achieved with landscaping.

Bekir Ödemiş, Head of ABB Cultural and Natural Heritage Department, said, “There are 57 workplaces in it. It was made in 1956. He has not seen any fundamental work since that year. Additions were made, but it lost its feature because it was not repaired. There are very special shops in which you can meet all your needs. There are spice shops, there are clothing stores and aquarists," he said. Ödemiş said, “We completed the renovation work of the bazaar in a short time like 4 months. We have completed our work without interrupting the daily trade of the bazaar tradesmen. It was a quality work. We have never spoiled its original and historical texture, we have preserved its originality. We renewed its roof, facade and awnings. There were unnecessary protrusions; they were edited and drawn into a certain form. We made the Anafartalar Municipality Bazaar, which has a special place in Ankara's urban memory, more visible with a qualified restoration. We have created a healthy environment for both the guests and the tradesmen.”

Orhan Özen, the President of Anafartalar Municipality Bazaar Craftsmen Assistance and Solidarity Association, said: “All our tradesmen are very satisfied with the service provided. What has been done has been untouched until now. Our bazaar gained a personality and appearance. We thank all our tradesmen for this and we are happy.”

Anafartalar Municipality Bazaar Contractor Mustafa Eren Yıldırım, who carried out the renovation works of the bazaar, said, “Here, we renewed the roofs, exterior, interior, awning, exterior and interior joinery, aluminum joinery, floors, and many worn-out places such as gutters. We have made it more modern. We started a study here without spoiling the historical texture. We carried out this work in harmony with the tradesmen. The shopkeepers are satisfied and we are also satisfied”, while the tradesmen expressed their satisfaction with the renovation of the bazaar with the following words:

Fikret Redcotton: “I have been a tradesman here for 30 years. Compared to the past, a different concept has emerged, which is very beautiful and full of innovations. Our roofs were leaking. They built every place without spoiling the historical texture. Our customers have increased.”

Yilmaz Ozcan: “I have been a tradesman here for 35 years. I own a bakery shop. Until now, we were making repairs with our own means. We are very happy with the renovation work here.”

Mustafa Mert: “I have been a tradesman in this bazaar for 57 years. So far, we, as tradesmen, have made this place with our own means. Its roof and porches were changed for the first time. The metropolis did a very good job and gave it an authentic image. Most importantly, the front of all stores gained order with automatic shutters. I thank the Metropolitan Municipality for their service.”
