A train typically has 30.000 individual item numbers, from bolts and washers to advanced digital systems. In 2022, Alstom designed and manufactured track components and solutions at approximately fifty sites on six continents, including Poland. Alstom's products and solutions are also used by other manufacturers in more than 40 countries around the world.

The production of modern, low-emission rolling stock is a significant technological and logistical challenge. With the broadest component portfolio in the industry, decades of experience and a worldwide presence, Alstom offers the best solutions for sustainable shipping. Approximately 25-30 percent of all parts used by Alstom in the production of rail vehicles are designed and manufactured in-house. These are key technologies for quality, efficiency and innovation. As they define vehicles individually, they have a decisive influence on their final performance and differentiate them from their competitors.

“ Alstom currently has around 50 facilities around the world located in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. In these facilities, we produce bogies, drives and traction, internal components, train control and information systems, and friction brakes that move the train. These are critical components that we cannot depend solely on suppliers. “Sometimes we get systems from suppliers with certain know-how based on their experience in certain industries,” says Sławomir Cyza, Alstom's CEO and Managing Director in Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic States.

Technologies designed and manufactured by Alstom are also used by other manufacturers in more than forty countries around the world. Alstom not only provides customers with completed tools and systems, but also components for vehicle manufacturers and service, infrastructure and IT solutions providers. With a complete portfolio of technologies and solutions for rail, Alstom continually invests in innovation and is the world leader in battery, hydrogen and hybrid rail solutions. With a global reach, Alstom understands the end customer's country and specific needs and often produces or services locally.

In 2022, Nadarzyn in Poland appeared on the map of Alstom's global manufacturing facilities. Here, the production of bogies for regional trains, subways and trams began. The new site will employ 200 people. The cost of the investment will be over 10 million Euros. The facility will also serve bogies for high speed trains (up to 250 km/h) in the near future. It will be the first service center of this type in Poland. All Alstom plants in Poland employ more than 4.000 people. This makes Alstom the largest employer as well as the production and export leader in the Polish railway sector.
