Work is underway for three frigates following TCG Istanbul, the first Turkish frigate designed by Turkish engineers. President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir made evaluations about the course of the MİLGEM Project and the construction of class I frigates.

The Turkish defense industry will use the production power of private sector shipyards to produce three national frigates simultaneously and put them at the disposal of the Naval Forces Command.

While the construction of TCG Istanbul, the first ship of the MİLGEM Stacker (I) Class Frigate Project, which is the second phase continuation of the MİLGEM Ada class corvettes, continues, work begins for the 6th, 7th and 8th ships.

President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said that it was decided to realize the three I-Class Frigate Projects with Anadolu, Sedef, Sefine, TAİS Joint Venture Commercial Enterprise and STM Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret AŞ Business Partnership.

Demir stated that each of the Anadolu, Sedef and Sefine shipyards, which are included in this business partnership within the scope of the project, is planned to construct an I-class frigate simultaneously, and as a result of the military ship projects carried out both in the country and abroad in recent years, private sector design offices/shipyards, military He reported that he had made considerable progress in ship design and construction.

President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir stated that these enterprises have developed their financial structures together with project management and qualified workforce, and that they have gained the knowledge and experience to successfully execute project and risk management for military shipbuilding projects.
