Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç said that the Kayseri Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Action Plan was prepared within the scope of the Kayseri Climate Action (IDEP) Project.

Metropolitan Mayor Dr. In his statement on the subject, Memduh Büyükkılıç reminded that with the Industrial Revolution that started at the end of the 19th century and the rapid population growth, climatic changes began to be seen with the effect of increasing fossil fuel use.
President Büyükkılıç emphasized that the fight against climate change gained momentum in the world with the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Climate Agreement, which were prepared to eliminate the damages caused by global warming that cause climate changes, and immediately after the 2053 net-zero vision of the Paris Climate Agreement was revealed in Kayseri with this understanding. He stated that with the Climate Action (IDEP) project, they aim for a more resilient, carbon neutral and more sustainable urban life against climate hazards.
Stating that the Kayseri Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Action Plan has been prepared within the scope of the Kayseri Climate Action (IDEP) Project, Büyükkılıç said, "Climate change is one of the most important global problems that can negatively affect our world, humanity and our way of life in all aspects."
THE ACTION PLAN INCLUDE 5 KEY STRATEGIES
President Büyükkılıç pointed out that the Kayseri IDEP Climate Action project includes a planned action program aimed at a more resilient, carbon neutral and more sustainable urban life against climate hazards, and said, “Our Kayseri Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Action Plan, which was prepared for this purpose; Climate Resistant City Development and Healthy City Life, Combating Drought and Sustainable Organic Agriculture, Conversion to Clean Energy in Buildings and Industry, Green and Smart Urban Transportation, Sustainable Environmental Management, include 5 basic strategies.
Underlining that as Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, they aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 2053 percent in 77 and to make Kayseri one of the country's most important renewable energy production centers in order to reach the net zero target, with their planned action programs, Büyükkılıç said that this plan has contributed to the preparation process. thanked all stakeholders and colleagues.
The Action Plan aims to implement physical and social protection mechanisms for the fragile population living in Kayseri against heat waves, severe winter conditions, vectorial and airborne and waterborne diseases.
